On the day of the date.

I like to say "Hey, im going to be about 10 minutes late."

This doesn't come across as needy because you are not asking her anything and it gives her a chance to reply to you or not.

In this case I wouldn't get in touch with her.

You've already told her what to do. She's probably cancelled all her other plans and is getting ready for you.

If she does end up flaking, then she wasn't worth it anyway. If you're really worried, follow u/hecticchow's advice and say you're running a few minutes late.

My technique is chose something you want to do anyway, and if she flakes so what, have a good time anyway. Outcome independence.

UPDATE: Same thing happened. She flaked at the time I mentioned then tried to text me later when she thought it was appropriate for her to come round.

I'm gonna leave this one to simmer and next it, I honestly don't have the time to be waiting until the early hours for a chick to say when she wants to come over.

I don't tell them the exact bar we are going to and confirm it on the morning.

"Hey tinderella I was think we go to x"
