I really need to get this off my chest.

Every other fucking day, there is a clearly fake as shit story that hits the front page of reddit about a man being a deadbeat piece of shit father. Of course posts about women like this never hit the front page, seeing as they're always given the benefit of the doubt (she's not getting the help she needs, she has PPD, she has other related mental illness, she needs more communal support), yet they're posted about men all the time.

There was one a few days ago in AITA about a guy complaining about having to "babysit" his own kids instead of playing video games, and it checked off every single fucking box of the stereotypical lazy father. According to the idiotic story he even used the word "babysit" to refer to what he was doing, which is such a blatantly fake mustache-twirling caricature of the evil lazy father that it kind of makes me nauseated.

Yet everyone believed it. Why? It gave them an entertaining tale about a shitty father getting his due. What a load of crap.

Idiots are reading these stories and believing every word. They don't have the ability to think for themselves or approach what they read online with even the tiniest modicum of skepticism, so what do they do? They take it all in, reinforce each other, and gradually shift into delusional man haters.

Stop devaluing fathers. Stop pointing at fake stories on the internet to defend your misandry. This is why women's communities crumble into toxic shitholes of manhating so often. They're being indoctrinated by thinly veiled creative writing exercises.

Just because you don't like someone or what they posted doesn't mean their story is fake.

I mean, shitty fathers exist. My father was shitty. I wouldn't criticize the content of the post itself. Women are allowed to vent if they're not getting the help they need from their husbands.

We should focus on criticizing how male contributions are downplayed (e.g. working a full week and still being expected to split household chores 50/50 with a SAHM) and how hate groups like FDS demean all men based on their bad experiences.
