If you're not attractive in some way you don't even exist to them at all. Like your presence doesn't even register in their brain most of the time. They're indicating that you're now on their radar.

Act cool. I never understood why both girls and guys, upon going to a party and meeting them for the first time, would consistently say things like "have we met before?" Or "you seem familiar." I used to be taken aback, id freeze and try to rack my brain and enter a technical conversation about what places they frequent or who they know to have seen/heard about me. Total turnoff. Now I just smile and say something like "yea I enjoy the scene from time to time" and leave it vague before going into small talk. Leaves you seeming mysterious, humble, and aloof. With girls, take it as a subtle sign of interest.

Depends on your personality and the context, but play along. Example:

"I've seen you around campus"

"Really?! I swear to God she told me she was 18" and play that up.
