I saw this too but frankly I am too tired of the way we men are discriminated against when it comes to medical care.

Women have a whole month (pink October) about breast cancer awareness and in my country women get breast screenings for free from state hospitals. They actually get called for a screening every year or so.

Now, men are dying from prostate cancer at a higher rate than women are dying from breast cancer but what is being done about it? We get no information. We get no free screenings. Even GPs make me feel uncomfortable when I ask about it. The best I could get was a PAID FOR blood test that looks for a chemical that may signal that there is prostate cancer. It is not a very reliable test and I finally got a manual exam this year by slightly exagerating some things. A manual exam by a doctor is not the most pleasant of things but it literally costs nothing and offers no risks, but most doctors seem to brush it aside even though they are trained how to detect unusual growths in the prostate.

Where are there doctors available for men? All I can find in my area is family health physicians who are really paediatricians, and women's doctors (gynecologists). I've looked and can't find a general practitioner who does yearly physicals and checkups for men.

I'd love to be getting a yearly exam, but doing that would be a two hour drive. The closest I have gotten to that is a nurse practitioner who came by my work and did insurance checkups.

When presented correctly, mens issues do get a lot of support

Yes its not as unconditional as women, but if done right the response is overwhelmingly positive.

Look at xforboys, ladsneeddads, loads of other schemes
