This is kind of up in the it since we don't know if it happened. However as ugly s it is, if your constituency doesn't support you for whatever reason....democracy is ugly

Many forms of Government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.…

That's why I'm glad America isn't one. Constitutional Republic works alright.

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what they are going to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.

Liberty = facism, roger

A populace with the ability to defend itself against tyrannical rulers is racism, got it

I mean, i know Ben Franklin was an abbolitionist towards the end of his days, but thats rich coming from a dude who just quoted a slave owner

I nearly almost responded to you. Then i saw you are a shitty edgelord who lives in teenagers. I know high school is hard buddy, acting like a pseudo intellect on reddit makes you feel good so I won't take that from you

Lol you dumb and racist cool

Also you lost the election, time to go back to your trailer park in arizona

[–]Eggyweggys1 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Double posting is really pathetic. Youll learn that texting someone twice after they ignored your response makes you look desperate once you get out of high school

Find me a land owner from that time without a slave and I'll find you a unicorn.

It’s fair, no? Essentially, it’s a more organized form of mob rule?

[–]Eggyweggys1 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah it is, i jist prefer my ppd to be more clear cut i suppose

There was no investigation and if it was true was determined by popular vote. This is not PPD as it could be true. Japan has a major rape culture problem, so I would not rush to conclusions.

Edit: This is what I have been told by my Japanese friends both male and female,

In Japan rapes rarely get reported because in our culture if a woman has been rapes she is used and disgraced and is not fit for marriage. I am no expert just saying what I know.

[–]goboks 27 points28 points29 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Japan doesn't have a rape culture. Rape is illegal in Japan. That means the Japanese culture doesn't like rape.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Weed is illegal in the US yet most states don’t charge for it anymore and the feds only go after distributors anyways. Just being on the books doesn’t prove that it does or doesn’t have a culture of tolerating that action. I’m not arguing that Japan does or doesn’t have a rape culture. But there being a law in the books doesn’t prove or disprove that that culture tolerates or rewards people who may be doing illegal acts.

[–]goboks 14 points15 points16 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Cultures aren't static. You're describing the laws changing with the culture in the US.

Rape law is not changing in Japan. It is not slowly becoming legal to rape.

[–]reinkoolpoo1 points 5 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

holy shit you are stupid and have no idea what you’re talking about. Japan has many many molestors and rapists who never ever get reported because japanese culture dictates women keep silent and don’t cause a fuss. How about you actually do research before talking out of your ass

[–]goboks 12 points13 points14 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I lived in Japan for 5 years. How much time have you spent there?

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

there is literally a device where women can press it/use it and it calls the police immediately , thats rape culture right?

[–]TheRabid 13 points14 points15 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’m not disagreeing with you, but what is the definition of ‘rape culture’ and when do you know that it’s not a problem anymore?

[–]maxtraxv3 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

u have based this on? becuase if you ask anyone there they dont, nor do they even have gender discimation, go there and ask everyone.

[–]kuolleitakarpasia -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Dude there just was a huge thing about the university of tokyo discriminating against female applicants. Women are ecpected to get married and become stay at home moms. Men have immense pressure to succeed professionally. Japanese society is extremely sexist. I don't get where you get your info from???

[–]continous 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Are you talking about this article?

There is no evidence that the University of Tokyo manipulates exam results. Rather, officials say, women’s admissions are consistent with the applicant pool.

Because the conclusion is clear; Women apply at a lower rate, and/or succeed at a lower rate. The only discriminatory practice they found was in favor of women.

[–]TegridyAsshole 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's not that they're used and disgraced, or not fit for marriage; it's just that getting a conviction is particularly difficult, and the defence is always going to attempt to assassinate your character as some sort of loose woman, so it's not worth the hassle most of the time.

It's not really different to the west in that regard, especially before DNA profiling was an option; the problem being, of course, that profiling only helps to prove intercourse - it doesn't prove the matter of consent at the time.

[–]continous 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

None of my Japanese friends would agree with the ridiculous shit you just said. No one in Japan I know of believes that a woman has be "used and disgraced" for being raped, let alone unfit for marriage. That's so ridiculous.

I'm not going to pretend there are no problems in Japan regarding molestation and rape. People do get groped on the trains, and refuse to report it...but the culture is very obviously against it in that people who do it are heavily targeted, and there are cars specifically for women in an attempt to mitigate it. It's just not easy to police such a packed vehicle.

There are also issues with marriage in Japan; but none of them relate to virginity or the lack thereof.

As my friend said; Don't tell lies on the internet.

Doesn't really seem like a PPD at all.

For one thing, we have no idea what happened.

Secondly, in many Asian nations, the culture is that that kind of thing just doesn't happen (no matter how often it does)

Thirdly, how did she use her pussy to gain an advantage or to get unfair privilege?

Not a captain save-a-ho here but just because a woman breathes doesn't mean it's a PPD when she holds her breath.

[–]AidenTEMgotsnapped 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is the second post that's not valid I've found within 30 seconds of scrolling.

[–]continous 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Secondly, in many Asian nations, the culture is that that kind of thing just doesn't happen (no matter how often it does)

Japan is not one of them.

how did she use her pussy to gain an advantage or to get unfair privilege

Attempt to utilize a false accusation of rape, and the associated increased sensitivity when it comes to sexual attacks on women within society.

Not a captain save-a-ho here but

You certainly trying to save-a-hoe. I agree with the first point though. With no full story, it's hard to make sense of the situation.

[–]Auntie_Hero 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So we're just going forward with the assumption that her accusation is 100% proven? Is this a r/lostredditor?

[–]goboks 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

OP didn't change the title from the original post. I agree it is ridiculous. Maybe the backlash is against people who make false accusations. We don't know and the article is biased too.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not quite PPD. More like culture-clash we don't quite grok.

[–]antifeminist3 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Go to the police and file a complaint. If you do not go to the police and just publically make an accusation, you do not want justice, you want to smear your target. This is the law in most jurisdictions.

I recognize that feminists want to change this law so you can just use the female style aggression tactic of reputation sabotage without administering justice. You will notice that not only is there no justice in this latter case, but if the target of the reputation sabotage is actually guilty of rape, then that person will stay out of jail and can rape again. I would like to ask a feminist how this is a good thing... Why is keeping a rapist out of jail good?

[–]PrinceBBGuy 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I feel like...this probably does not belong here.

[–]sylbug 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They Streisand it and no one names the damn town - Kusatsu.

[–]Rook_Cross 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My guess is she was telling the truth. They don't like causing trouble in Japan, even when they are wronged, better to just take it, so that if she came forward it was probably true and she would be the one to take the heat for bringing negative attention to the town, for speaking of it openly, rather than the mayor for doing it in the first place. Japan is not the West, women aren't throwing around false accusations the way they are here. This is likely an injustice.
