I can see a ban on circumcision would be much harder than passing a law banning the creation of products from human flesh. Human flesh cannot be legally sold, but products created from them can. Hospitals can illegally sell the foreskin away instead of disposing of them as medical waste, since there's no way they're going to get caught, and profit 100k$ per baby foreskin.
Who does this money go towards? Not the children who were circumcised, not the parents of the baby circumcised, but to line some sadistic fatcats pockets.
My conclusion I've come to is this, if we ban the use of human flesh to make products, then circumcision rates will plummet. Hospitals and doctors only push for it to be done so they can sell the flesh illegally. Hell, they're making 100k$ per circumcision, so why wouldn't they push for it? Profit-driven and unnecessary procedures could be stopped dead in their tracks.
On another note, how is the US government going to keep track of these disposed foreskins and prevent the illegal sale of them to make beauty products? They can't. Why is there a huge hole in the law to allow hospitals to profit off of something that can end up completely removing all function from a penis with a botched circumcision? The victim of the act doesn't even profit, but they also can't even consent. This is sexual abuse of minors. They can even be mentally handicapped for life, and not be any the wiser why.
IT'S TIME TO STOP!
Edit: Think about it like this, if there was a way to profit from FGM, then everyone would be outraged. Hospitals profiting off of circumcision? It's just a flap of skin. (Not true btw, but people still buy that shit.)
There are 6k nerves inside of the foreskin, and it is a LOT of the entire amount of total skin on the penis removed. This causes issues with pubic and scrotal skin being pulled onto the shaft to compensate for a lack of shaft skin, which is majorly functionally and cosmetically damaging to the victim. The repercussions of not have a Normal penis can be absolutely devastating. I have PTSD thanks to scrotal skin and pubic skin being pulled onto my shaft.
Edit of an edit: I think people need to take a really hard look at why circumcision became widespread in America. It had nothing to do with religion. The man behind the act made many false claims and delusional benefits. Every single claim he made has already been proven wrong, so why do we still practice it? The only thing that makes sense is for profit. Think whatever you want, but you have to admit that it's wrong to cut off healthy flesh for profit. Bottomline, regardless of how much they make. It's just wrong and heavily disturbing.

unfortunately i don't think this is true. doctors aren't getting a cut of the sale. they do it for the money they make off the surgery.

i agree it's completely wrong, but i don't think preventing it will have any measurable impact on circumcision rates.

it's a couple hundred bucks. but multiply it by a few times a day every day all year and it's a good vacation fund.
if the doctor isn't the one making that money (and i have a very hard time believing it's anywhere near $100k), why would it make any difference?

I agree. The act of circumcision is part of a profit making system. The price that is charged to parents to have the procedure done, creates profit. By which a commodity is produced to create even more profit. For hospitals, that's a win-win.
Hospitals will of course insist that the tissue cannot be legally sold, it's "donated". Well, if they really wanted to prove that graft is not taking place, they should have no problem at all, with incinerating the tissue to dispose of it.
The whole process makes me wonder what's done with other patient byproducts produced from surgery? Who owns that viscera, the patient or the hospital? How is it disposed of?
