Nothing is wrong with distributing DIY virus engineering kits so long as everybody remembers not to make viruses that are both spready and deadly.

Rape is much more likely to be a kink than a fetish. It is the "as long as everybody is consenting" bit that worries some people.

It is in the nature of kinks that they tend to develop and intensify and branch out.
It is the nature of Reddit that nobody knows who is reading subs and what effect it is having on them.

There is a subset of young rape victims who are left with a rape kink, and a portion of those are attracted to rape porn. But others can just drift in at random and may develop an unhealthy interest. Someone who has been masturbating to rape porn and thoughts frantically for five years might have some problems when they start having sex IRL. Hopefully they won't traumatise their partner, but they may find normal sexual relationships unsatisfying and that they have constructed a sexuality that gives them a very restricted range of compatible partners. And maybe they will traumatise a partner at some stage.

Last year someone reactivated an unused sub called /rapestories or something like that, and promoted it to the rape support community as a place for people to tell their stories. I don't recall the exact angle but people started posting in good faith. Then someone realised the mod is also a mod on a kink sub for fantasies about men raping women. That didn't feel too great for those who had posted their stories. The sole mod was eventually persuaded to hand over the sub or shut it down, after some evasiveness and implausibility.
