Incoming rant, I'm sorry. I'm just trying to wrap my mind around somethings and I thought some of you may have been there before. I'm also typing this on my phone so please forgive any formatting errors. I started reading the red pill women recently (I posted a few days ago for the first time). The failed, rather uncommitted feminist in me(not that I identify as such) can't find any fault in the ideas or perspectives presented here. Yet for some bizarre, inexplicable reason the who prospect fills me with a sense of impending doom. I don't understand why. You all seem like a group of realists living quite successfully in a world full of idealists who have their heads stuck in the sand.
Don't get me wrong I'm all for equal right and equal pay for equal work. In the eyes of the government and on paper I think men an women should e treated the same. By this I mean that women should have to sign up for selected service and men should be able to get maternity leave.
So yes, I believe in equality. In an ideal world rape, sexual assault and abuse wouldn't happen; for either sex. In an ideal world no one would have to worry about getting to drunk at a party an get taken advantage of. We don't live in that world. Thus, I also believe in personal responsibility.
It is here that I and modern feminism part ways. In this day and age you can be and do whatever you want. That does not mean your actions don't have consequences. If you play with matches you are going to get burned...or in my case light my grandmas 100 year old linen table cloth on fire in the middle of thanksgiving dinner. Like I said, consequences.
With this in mind, if you want to sleep with anything that walks that is your prerogative. However, you don't get to play the victim card of someone calls you a slut or a man whore. I no more want to settle down with a man who has fucked his way through an entire sorority anymore than a man would want to marry me had I fucked a whole fraternity. And I think that's fair. If that is the person you want to be that is fine, but you don't get to be surprised or offended that the rest of society has decided that you are only good for a fuck (or to be a plate just to get the nomenclature right). Modern feminism states that this sort of judgement is wrong. I don't think it is.
This brings us to the heart of the matter. I want the white picket fence (ok not really, I want the rustic cabin on the beach, in Alaska). I want a man to spend the rest of my life with and I don't think I should feel bad about that. Nor should I feel like I am somehow less of a women for acquiring skills and showing myself to the best advantage to reach that goal.
It isn't like I'm selling myself short to admit this is a thing I want out of life. I'm not going to magically forget how to tie a leader onto a salmon rod because I learned how to make quiche, or no longer play roller derby because I admit I like to knit. I'm not trying to become some Stepford trophy wife and the kind of man I want wouldn't want me to be.
This is where to language gets a little tricky for me. It is hard to say "I don't want to be with someone who is my equal". It's true though. If you will excuse a bit of crude language how I'm explaining it to myself at the moment is that while masterbation is fun, I would much rather be having sex. By this I mean I would much prefer to have a partner, someone who is complimentary to me.
Although my parents relationship eventually crashed an burned, when I was younger they had it right for a while. My mom is obsessed with plants. Some people have a green thumb, she has a green arm. On the other hand my dad couldn't keep a cactus alive. Instead he made her beautiful macramé plant hangers and this really cool steel barrel composter. She in turn made us amazing meals out of fresh veggies all year long, which is no small feat in Alaska. She also made sure that garden scrapes went to the pigs my dad used to raise. This give and take all went to shit when I was about ten, but that is a different rant.
Anyways, the point I'm trying and failing to make is this: why do I have such misgivings about admitting that I want to be a good woman and be good marriage material when it in no way conflicts with the standards or ideals I've always had?
TL;DR: read the last paragraph...
