No. That is a common claim, but pure conjecture (usually by feminists who have their own Made up rules for proper feminist research) . Assuming two men will get along just cause they're men, is as asinine as assuming black people are all friends. Plus, if anything the evidence shows the opposite (not to mention the complete disregard for how cruel and hostile women can be towards one another).

Despite STEM purportedly being male dominated, results from 6 national studies found that Women in STEM have 2:1 hiring advantage over men, and that the most likely people to favor hiring women were... drumroll... old white men! The devil incarnate!

In Australia, it was assumed that a female name on a resume, caused women to be discriminated against in hiring processes. So the government decided to expose this by removing names from resumes, only to find that Name-blind resumes resulted in less women being hired, not more. Was this interpreted as discrimination against men? Of course not. Instead they concluded this proved affirmative action was working, and that it was best to keep the names.

Most industries that are male dominated are that way because women don't want those jobs.

Smoke jumpers...the firefighters that parachute into a forest fire.

Miners.

Linemen (install and fix power and telephone lines.)

High pressure finance.

Women, in general, stay away from physically dangerous jobs until the dangers are legislated away.

Fact is men have virtually no in-group preference on average. Women have plenty. Being male does not mean you view men as superior or will judge male candidates differently.

Also, this reminds me of a funny story. I have friend who worked at an ice cream store, one of those high-end ones. It was owned by a woman but every single employee there was male. The owner was a hardcore lesbian feminist who never stopped ranting about how women need equal opportunity and quotas and such.

When my friend asked her why she never hired any women she admitted that women were great employees for two weeks but by that point they had reversed the relationship, making the employer feel like they should be grateful for any work that is rendered and that its the employer's job to offer incentives on top of pay to get work done. She said that men just get an assignment and do what they're told.

The one and only time I sat on a selection board for a PhD position (about 2 years ago), the director suggested to my boss (the person that was hiring) that we take the very first interviewer because she was female, and did pretty well. We hadn't even seen any of the other applicants yet. She is now employed at my institute. She has turned out to be a great young researcher, but if you believe the hiring process in STEM isn't slanted in favor of women then you aren't paying attention.

Applying for jobs in the current climate is extraordinarily depressing. EVERY single job I apply for has at the very least a disclaimer at the bottom saying that they especially encourage women to apply, and some exclusively hire women.

The thing that I find most interesting is that 100% of the women I know in science really truly believe that they are discriminated against. I have, however, never had a conversation with a male physicist in any age group who wasn't ultra supportive of having more women in STEM (although some will grumble in private about the current methods to achieve that goal). Gender quotas. I don't see any quotas for men.

But you can search for these things, even when it just comes down to resumes, when its gender blind, women aren't given more callbacks, they're given less. When it comes to in group bias based on gender, women have it, men do not. This is exacerbated with female managers, who will actively discriminate against men in favor of women, something else that can be looked up.

Interviewing well is a very important part of being hired, for me, my biggest issue was applying for jobs when i had little to no experience, as long as i could get an interview, i could get the job, i interview really, really well.

The final reason is there are ridiculously large amount of industries where women DON'T want jobs. Most women don't want to be cops, firefighters, loggers, miners, etc. So you won't find them in these industries. Hell, even things just related to those industries. Here in Australia, last year a mining safety board had a gender quota to fill, they couldn't, it disbanded. It wasn't because they were being sexist against women, there were just ZERO women to fill the slot.

Most any and all industries want you because of two things, competence, and how your interview went(aka charisma). First impressions are a big deal, so if they like you, and you can do the damn job, you have the job. Its only with the recent push that competence and charisma have taken a major backseat to politics, gender, etc.

No in fact almost all industries pay women more for the same amount of hours (this is because of a supposed pay gap which legislators blindly try to fix despite not interpreting data correctly the pay gap is caused by a hours gap and gross income doesn’t take that into effect meaning the reason women are paid more for the same hours is because the government over compensated and didn’t realize men work harder and longer on average than women thus earning more money) also fun fact men commit suicide over 200% more than women (I think I said this once and someone said no un I went and looked up the stats agian and figured out I was under representing the stats 😂)

Certain areas are male dominated because they get the job done and don't complain about work conditions all the time. The male bond is also stronger than the female so all-male teams usually work more efficiently than all-female teams.

You want to disrupt that male efficiency? Hire a few quota-females and see what happens.

I'm not sure what types of jobs you're interviewing for, but most white color jobs for large companies are processed by HR, which is mostly women.

It is a mixed bag. I imagine most people like to hire within their gender, but I also know that the first round for hiring is generally done by HR (if not the entire process) which is generally women. Women also tend to not go for men dominated fields based on college degree distribution, so even if women are claiming to be applying for those same jobs as much as men that doesn't mean women are as qualified. The difference in degrees chosen by men and women is astounding and a real eye-opener.

If men are hiring more men than women it is often subconscious. we like to say 'the best person should get the job' but truthfully we almost never give it to the actual best person, and we don't really care who the best person is. We tend to choose applicants that are extremely similar in terms of experience and bragging rights, and then from there it comes down to personal interactions during interviews, who says the right thing and who you get along with the most. Most men get along with men moreso than women, so they're going to hire more men.

Especially in artsy fields like film I think men are wayyy more likely to want to hire men just because you're trying to create something and you need someone who sees eye to eye with you on it, you need someone who feels like they understand the same language your soul speaks.

Diversity hires will be the death of what little art can be found in those industries.
