This has not been a new problem but I am new to RPW and really enjoy reading your posts and I was hoping you all could give me good advice for disbanding beta men who feel the need to court me when I have absolutely no interest in them at all.

I will first say that I am a pretty attractive girl and I'm very extroverted and outgoing and have been told that I have a flirtatious personality even when I am not directly intending to flirt with anyone. I really don't have the desire to get into a relationship because I am in school and very busy and focused right now. I have found men too much of a distraction that I do not need at the moment.

Most of the men I am talking about started out what I thought was friends but I am finding out that apparently men and women can't just be friends. All of a sudden they feel the need to start texting excessively or talking to me way more often then necessary. If I don't answer immediately, they send repeated texts. They tell me how attracted they are to me or how pretty I am or any number of doting compliments to which I try to thank politely, change the subject or just plain ignore. The thought is sweet and flattering but really it's just really awkward and I REALLY wish they wouldn't. I understand this might come across that I am ungrateful or conceited but when they act like this it just invites awkwardness and I don't know why but I almost feel a little embarrassed - for both of us! I get very uncomfortable and don't know how to tell them that I do not share their interest, I am not looking for a relationship and that I do not appreciate all the attention they give me.

I try to be as direct as possible and do point out that I'm not looking for anyone and my life is very busy but sometimes it's like it went in one ear and out the other! I don't want to be mean and I hate pushing away people I once saw as friends but I do not know how to properly handle this. Is there a way I can tell them to leave me alone and quit pedestalizing me so they get the point but without being overly harsh?
