What?

Yes I agree with you I hate Gillete. But there was no other company that showed Father's Day ads or masculinity commercials. I am also aware that that commercial was directed by an ugly feminist.

Well compare baby showers, and mothers day gifts. The gifts men get compared to women is pathetic on parent day.

Honestly, are they? Tools are expensive, and as a majority of men appreciate tools, why would they be wrong to sell such things? Not to mention it’s like comparing apples to oranges. Each gift is highly personalized and can not be compared. You don’t buy your mom flowers for Mother’s Day if she is allergic to most flowers. For my dad, he enjoys cooking and messing around in the kitchen so I get him cool cooking gadgets that I see in the store. He appreciates them. It’s not and never will be about the monetary value. In fact, given how expensive tools and such are, a Father’s Day gift can easily run you a thousand dollars or so, so if we’re talking monetary value, women likely get less monetary value. But it’s not about that. It’s about the emotional value of the gift. It’s about the enjoyment a father will get out of a gift. So the trend speaks for itself. Nobody is forcing anyone to buy stuff. They advertise what they think people want. If people completely stopped buying tools next Father’s Day, how many ads would you see for tools next year? A lot fewer.

Also don’t bring baby showers into this. We men can’t get pregnant, so why not give special recognition for a special ability that women have?

Are most men subject to systemic sexism? Sure. But this isn’t one of the areas. Please don’t slam the gifts we get if we like them.

You like dirty industrial gits? Fine. Keep laboring all day long to pointlessness.

Men also prefer flowers, cakes, drones, video games, watches, leisure tickets, and a vacation to the northern fields and forests.

No mother's day is the same as a baby shower giftwise. Why can't it apply to men? It can. Men concieve sons if you forgot. Usually a hangover happens.

I personally would not need a drill bit a present because I would have enough drill bits, and its so low value that I could get it myself. Just because your the utilitarian industrial worker that works for leisure does not mean everyone is. Stop generalising.

Okay salty, take a step back and re-evaluate your assumptions. Industrial gifts are not “dirty”, you just don’t like them. That’s fine, just don’t try to force all men to hate them too. You also completely missed the entire point of my comment. My point was that a majority of men like tools and such, preferring the more useful gifts over the leisure ones. I did not say that men who like tools won’t appreciate, say, a cruise ticket, nor did I claim that all men liked tools. I only said that this is what the majority wants usually, so companies naturally pander to the majority. And you completely missed my point that gifts cannot be compared to each other. The point is the emotional significance behind them (surprise men are sentimental too) and thus monetary value is out of the question entirely.

Yet you insist on measuring these gestures of appreciation by metrics that are inapplicable, and attempting to force the results to fit your predetermined agenda. You ignore legitimate points and blanket them under stereotypes invented by yourself. You sound like a teen girl trying to get Internet points fighting for a cause she neither believes in nor understands.

As far as baby showers, yeah the men conceive the child, but um, who carries said kid for nine months? The baby showers are to celebrate the work of those nine months and to look forward to the birth, the creation of a new life. Women, up until the birth, do the lion’s share of the work, go through the morning sickness, manage diets, deal with all that extra weight, and a whole slew of problems along with it. So it’s only fitting that we should honor their work, where men have a supporting role. That’s a biological fact. Don’t mistake the entire reason men support their pregnant wives. I’ve known many husbands who helped plan the baby showers as a way to appreciate their wives. Don’t marginalize women on the way to getting recognition for men. That’s the way we got to the problem we have today, by marginalizing one group in favor of the other.

Lol you can think all you want. I know what I believe, that we should be fair towards men and women BOTH. You, in an instance unusual in this subreddit, are skewing the perspective towards men. The men’s rights movement will NEVER get traction if we’re just as bigoted as feminists. We must “be the bigger person” and base our world views on facts rather than feelings. We cannot afford to skew either towards men or women. And the fact that the market follows buying habits is easily established and contrary to your feeling that men are somehow disadvantaged by their preference for more useful gifts.

You also clearly aren’t reading my replies, which is sad because it leads you to see blatantly false things about my statements.

Funny, that usually characterizes the modern feminist. Ironic, don’t you think?
