Thoughts on this picture- seeing it makes me so annoyed by hearing things like

"male privilege"

"male entitlement"

"young men are so immature."

It's like things men have experienced are completely erased from consideration in conversations about social justice/equality. Why? Who get's to decide that?

Men liberated Europe from Nazi occupation, American men faced unprecedented horrors in the Pacific and even fought a battle on US soil, risking their lives. Young men had their whole lives ahead of them just to die and sacrifice themselves for a possibly better future

On another note, this is why the "Men suffer, women most affected" thing pisses me off so much.

We had situations like these in both World Wars where boys not even old enough to grow facial hair were shipped off to a war where you used corpses as cover from bullets and often got out of the battle covered in dirt, sweat, and blood. They'd be on their knees, crying, looking out at the body-ridden landscape and simply stop functioning as human beings.

And I'm not even going to talk about the poor children who were captured as prisoners and sometimes even murdered.

5th Ranger Battalion. Just prior to the landings, a group of Rangers scaled a cliff and took out German artillery, protecting the landing troops from some of the artillery pointed at them.

I wonder... here’s a strange sort of thought experiment, more for intellectual amusement than any serious proposal: What if humanity sent all of our young women into a Great War? Give them guns, train them to hate and kill, put them on the battlefield, and then we fuck the few who return? We don’t need that many, given modern medicine and low infant mortality. What would that society look like? What would a society of female expendability look like, presuming population could be maintained?
