It is also so sad that blacks are even higher.

Here is the worst part: Google 'police violence gender' and all the articles talk about violence against black women.

The world is silent on this.

The worst is male homelessness. My heart breaks thinking about how the world doesn't care

The least likely group of men to be shot is still like 5x more likely to be shot than the most likely group of women.

To be fair, violent women are much easier to restrain. Also, the odds of a woman being violent with police is lower, I'd wager.

It's the same problem as people complaining about police killing black people disproportionately. There are legitimate reasons for this. No, not every killing is justified. But if your race disproportionately commits violent crime, your race is also going to disproportionately face the consequences of commiting violent crime.

There are obviously plenty of cases where excessive force is ending in the death innocent men, black or otherwise. But to act as if it's all entirely unjustified discrimination is naive, and doesn't reflect reality. That's the thing about reality. Usually both sides are to blame, and there isn't one clear evil side.

That's a misleading stat seeing as the top number commits 50% of crime. But last year...9 blacks died as a result of unarmed cop killing where as 19 whites did.

But I get the point.

This doesn’t mean killing is justified, however I believe this is because women physically are weaker than men and not a lot of women are too hard to tackle.

Agreed. This has really been pissing me off recently. This is really telling about how our society views demographics. They've just decided who the victims are and who the victims are not. And there's nothing that will change that.

Black people die to the police at a ratio of 5:2? That's proof of institutionalized racism. Men die to the police at a ratio of 22:1? Uhh, next topic. Moving on.

It really shows you what society thinks of men.

Honest question: are there ANY cases of a police officer purposefully shooting a female suspect where the officer's own life was not in immediate danger*?

I'm not talking accidents or cross-fire, I'm not talking cases where a surprised officer might have mistaken a woman for a man, fired indiscriminately during a "no-knock" raid, shot at a moving vehicle, etc. That type of stuff should not happen, but it is not an example of police targeting a female suspect the same way male suspects are targeted.

I'm also not talking about cases involving the military/secret service/private security. They have different rules of engagement.

I'm asking if there is any case where an ordinary police officer looked at a known female and simply decided to use lethal force on her?

Has this EVER happened?

*Perhaps this last part opens the door a bit too widely as I realize police always *claim* they are in immediate danger. You know what I mean- are there any cases where the immediate danger to the officer's life wouldn't be obvious to people who aren't in the police union?
