Only recently me and my girlfriend decided to let people know we're in a relationship. However one side effect I did not expect at all.

All of my girlfriend's friends said the exact same thing in response; "I'm sure he's alright, but please watch out. Men can be HORRIBLE sometimes."

Now I thought this was perfectly justifiable. Men CAN be horrible sometimes. Except for one thing...

I got no warnings by my friends. Nobody told me to watch out for her.

This made me quite sad and I began to worry that I must be someone who is less trustworthy than her.

However, after a lot of consolation from my girlfriend, I knew that we, as people, were both just as trustworthy as each other. And I came to the shocking realisation that she's getting so many warnings when I'm not for no reason other than because she is a female and I am male.

Women are roughly just as likely to be dangerous partners than men, so why is it that men are treated as the potential danger and women as the potential victim.

It made me sick to see the amount of times I heard "don't do anything or I'll kill you :)" from not only her friends, but mine too.
