NYT: More women learning how to ritually mutilate the genitals of infant boys, because it's good business: “There are babies born every day, and if you are doing well, you can make a nice living.”
I’m a bit confused about the circumcision discussion, can someone help me out here please? My boyfriend is uncircumcised & he says that he actually wants to get the surgery because he finds his foreskin problematic and sometimes difficult to handle. He’s had a couple problems involving his foreskin in the past, but he’s wary of the procedure because now that he’s older it’ll be “more painful” and not something he wants to sit through to heal. My bf says he wishes his father did it for him at birth (especially seeing how his father got the surgery later on in life too).
So what’s the general consensus here? I personally view it the way I view female gentile mutilation - which, weird that we call the surgery on women “mutilation” but circumcision is viewed as religious & normal - but my boyfriend saying he wishes he had been circumcised has me curious about everyone else’s opinions?
For reference, we’ve briefly discussed circumcising our potential future son, so more opinions from men would be really appreciated !!
He’s had the (apparently common) issue of his foreskin not covering his head after sex and then ballooning up because it was stuck. We went to the doctor and she just tugged it back up and over and told him to lay off the sex for a while. Also, he wasn’t wiping his penis off properly after sex for a while and I guess the foreskin covered his head before it was fully clean. He developed these 2 canker-sore looking things. He did get tested for herpes but it came back negative, so our only guess is that it was poor cleaning.
