Hello all, apologies in advance for wierd spelling errors and if this breaks any rules. This is all being done via mobile.

I'm going to make this as short as possible.

Family background I come from a normal-ish family. All you need to know is that my mother can, at times, become very harsh with my dad. At times it seems like he can't do anything right. This has been the norm for my entire life, and I was witness to it constantly. It didn't matter if we were at home, at the mall, or visiting relatives. There was no filter for my mother. This is just a stupid excuse for why I treated the men in my life like total crap.

My background I met my husband 8 years ago. He is seven years my senior. All that needs to be known about him is that he is a mans man. Very hardworking, salt of the earth, relaxed, logical, normal guy. He is loyal to his family, isn't afraid of a challenge, and very reliable. As I type this I am amazed he stuck around with me.

I came into the relationship very hard headed. I would yell and scream in arguments, I got angry very easily, and I was extremely critical of every single thing he did. Nothing was right. Nothing was good enough. I was a huge bitch.

However, my husband (boyfriend back then) always called me out on my behaviour. I'd always say "I'll change" but I never did. Slowly, as time went by, I did start to internalize a few changes, but in reality I was still the same person.

I think my true change came when my husband told me something. He said "when ever you get angry, even if you think it doesn't affect me, it stresses me out. Even if you stub your toe in the other room and want to scream out "fuck", it stresses me out". And I think from that point on Ive always been thinking about my actions. I'll admit, habits are difficult to break. Changing the way you operate is not an overnight procedure.

So, in a really crude and short way, that's my story. I used to be the abrasive, hard to get along with girl. My husband had to wait 5 years before deciding I was the one he wanted to marry (and now that I think about it I am extremely grateful he decided to stay with me).

I've been implementing some new thought processes into my relationship for the past few weeks, and it's been great so far. Simple things like not arguing stupid points, letting things go, and refusing to get myself worked up over anything. It's been easy letting my husband steer the ship because that's what he's been trying to do this whole time. I'm just a very lucky gal that he's been this patient with me.

Thank you, RPW
