There’s not a male Psychiatrist anywhere that could get away with that argument.

The male doctors who do this also have issues on the go, or they wouldn’t be contemplating relationships with their patients. Despite the fact their lives are likely also messed up, we still hold the professional responsible for meeting the professional standards of conduct they signed onto with their professional association.

The patient didn’t sign off on maintaining that ethical boundary, the psychiatrist did.

The simple question:

"Would the CBC have given such access to "HIS" story if the genders were reversed"

This really pisses me off because it really makes women seem so weak, this is what always seems to happen when a woman 'succumbs' to a man, SHE is the victim, she couldn't say NO, Well shit if women are so weak why are they allowed to be in these professions (half sarcasm)

Hold up, based on the timeline i'm reading here.... she had a kid and got pregnant again during this sexual affair with someone who she was trusted to provide care for? So she's also a cheater and still wants us to believe she's a victim? I'm not too far out on a limb thinking that there's another guy in this story who's knocking this doctor up am I?

This whole article is really sad. They give her a platform to speak her piece and spread her version while they give the true victim a single line after they paint him to be a predator?

This woman should absolutely be banned from working in this field again, she's a danger to the people she's supposed to help!

This presentation of what happened is insanity. She violated something extremely basic. If you're a psychiatrist that deals with those with mental issues, you're trained to deal with "abuse" because that is literally part of your job - you signed up for it. If you have this job you are 100% going to occasionally deal with people who have abusive behavior patterns, and your job is to help the patient improve those behaviors, not take advantage of them because your issues with children made you horny. She is likely lying anyways to get her job back, but she deserves to have her license stripped away for good, or at least until she can prove she isn't what appears to be a narcissist that can't take any responsibility for her actions. Having sexual relations with a patient can really fuck the patient up, who already has enough problems without you wrecking the therapeutic situation with having a particularly horny style of being "vulnerable."

Kerfoot says the CPSO refused to take into account her side of the story, instead appointing one of her colleagues to sit on the investigative panel that looked into the situation. The college says there was no conflict, because the colleague didn't directly work with Kerfoot.

I don't get this. Was she expecting to sit on the panel investigating her case? That'd be the clearest example of conflict of interest ever.

"The college has considered me guilty from day one. I sent them multiple letters about what happened, and when they suspended my licence, they'd already made up their minds about my guilt. The college acts as the jury and the prosecutor in these cases."

This sounds... familiar.
