Weekly Self-Reflection Thread: 27/03/2015

The good: we got some serious r&r on Saturday, and got busy 3 times. Woooo! I gave the kitchen a good scrub, and think I've perfected his favorite steak marinade

The bad: I did no laundry the past five days, the dog needs a bath, and I really need to spring clean my closet. Reeeally. I've also been letting myself feel lonely, which is dumb. He's working a ton and I miss him so bad. We got drinks with his buddy on Friday who said, and I quote "I told my wife that I'd try to wrap up work and be home by 6 with dinner but got caught on a call and she told me to forget dinner, so I got home at 6:15 and we were spitefully having cereal for dinner and we fought all night". I just squeezed my SO because having him home before 8 would be a dreeeeam :((

gah I didn’t do my self-reflection last week.

no real excuses, yes I’m busy but I think I could’ve taken at least five minutes. maybe my week would have gone smoother. :p

here’s a quick one before bed.

current issues:

poor diet (over my calories a lot, craving carbs)
overworking (a few late nights)
lack of sleep some days = craving junk, sluggish, grumpy
put up a bit of a fuss when my boyfriend announced he’s going away for another three weeks on a fishing trip. i mean, i said “that’s going to be fun” to him but it was obvious i was upset hahaha
dreading my work and sorta procrastinating it today with the holiday
failing at planning my days out, which i’m usually good at
not enough self-care in general. something just isn't right about my lifestyle. i KNOW my ideal lifestyle (gym first thing, work, boyfriend/social stuff in the evening) but it isn't happening and i gotta figure this out. i'm thinking it's an imbalance (i.e, i worked non-stop for three days and then felt super burned out, so on the weekend i just cooked and socialized even though i have really tight deadlines coming up for the 31st)

good stuff:

exercised six days this week, somehow. got my hip thrusts up to 185lbs. exercised twice today (yoga in the morning, run in the afternoon).
hit three litres of water most days
zero caffeine still (which has really made me realize that sleep deprivation is truly awful lol, it’s amazing how caffeine masks it. i used to live like that...)
getting used to dealing with mom, being nicer and shutting up even when i disagree with her (aka keeping the peaceee). in return she’s been nicer to me.
had awesome family time on easter weekend and tried some new recipes. cooked loads.
made dinner for my boyfriend before he left with his mom to mexico (moroccan chicken with olives and oranges. was great)

Wish I was around here more, but life is sorta crazy and I need to stay focused. hoping I’ll have more time to lurk in April

This weekend wasn't too good. I was in a foul mood because of not enough (time for) self-care. Even though I got some major practical stuff done, I just wasn't a pleasant person to be around. This includes being snappy/moody to my SO, mood swings, poor diet, ... and a bad self-image in general.

Today is a much calmer day. I'm going to practice lots of self-care, enjoy the flow of not having to do lots of different things, which causes my mind to split all over the place, and dress up real nice for a family lunch because I'm feeling pretty and healthy. (Started the day off with a nice breakfast and a short run.)

NTS: get. a. grip.

Bad:

I've been so busy lately with sparse free time that whenever I've gotten any I just want to veg out on the couch and do nothing! Hence my closet and kitchen cabinets still are a mess and unorganized. I really need to get it together somehow.
Also I had way too much sugar on Easter, oops. I've been wanting to take pilates reformer classes but dang, they're at LEAST $30 a pop around here. I've tried videos at home but they always hurt my neck, so I was hoping the machine might help with that.

Good:

Survived Easter Weekend! I met even more of SO's family (it's huge) and from what he's told me everyone seems to like me :) SO and I made yummy food to bring to the party and everyone gobbled it up! I tried my very best not to be a wallflower since I am fairly introverted and was as social as I could be without being weird. But boy am I completely drained now.
SO and I had some particularly good bedroom fun this weekend, too. Tmi maybe but what the heck.
I also started up the recent 30 day yoga challenge with Adrienne which is nice, though not super exercise-y so far, so I'm not sure if that + martial arts will do much for my fitness level.

This week has been way more bad/ugly than good. A lot of that had to do with the Easter holiday, which always brings back awful memories of my arch-feminist, narcissistic stepmother whom, I shit you not, looks just like Chanty Binx. I get depressed and upset when I think about what she did, which in turn messes with my diet, my energy, my sleep, and I'm not able to be an effective partner.

I guess the good thing is that my SO is completely aware of the situation, and he helped me figure out that that's why I've been so upset and ill the past few days. I am so so so grateful, but I know that I need to motivate myself to get back at it; no one else can do it for me.

(quick note - please don't post this comment to raisedbynarcissists; while the community there gives people who are there for genuine reasons the benefit of the doubt, they are very suspicious of TRP/RPW subscribers when we initially post there because they assume we're trying to troll.)

The bad - Ate way too much junk food (aka chocolate easter eggs) today and yesterday, which has screwed up my caloric deficit for the week according to MFP :( - I really need to start cleaning the house more often and make it more of a habit to do chores daily/weekly - I'm super behind with writing my thesis and I just can't get myself motivated enough to start working on it... Procrastination had been horrible the last few weeks

The good - I exercised almost every day last week, either lifting or cardio - Had a lovely easter weekend that I spend with my boyfriend and his family
