When's the last time you saw a Disney movie where prince charming had a personality? Right, it was Aladdin and it's central theme was all about how being a peacock matters more than your motivations and desires.

And, yes, I'm ignoring the modern live action remakes.

Wft. She acts like Gaston is supposed to be seen as the good guy. Of course he acts predatory despite being handsome and popular, he's the villain, that's the point! How is that a bad message? Even from her perspective? "This movie portrays toxic masculinity as villainous, clearly it is patriarchal garbage". Wtf? She even goes on to point out that the movie portrays Belle as intelligent and brave as well as kind. Yet it's still somehow too sexist to even be watchable to her.

I've always enjoyed all the Disney films, from Snow White in the 1920s to today.

I never thought of the old fairy tales as sexist. If Snow White or Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty were "rescued" by princes, it was only by chance/circumstance. I never saw it as the woman's only purpose in the movie being for her to be rescued. The stories are WAY more complex than that.

Im not sure why some of these movies get such hatred from feminists. Most of these Disney princesses exhibit rebellious behavior and go against the societal norms of what's expected of them. Most also reject the typical male suitors that they are expected to take. There is maybe an argument to be made about Snow White. But most of the others have agency and are making their own choices.
