First off, I'm honestly not sure how much of the problem is on me, but I'd like to do what I can to make it better. I like to think I'm observant, but these situations have made me feel so oblivious. Sometimes my boyfriend will be trying to lead and I won't recognize what he's doing until after the fact. Let me give some examples.

When we were on vacation we decided to go to a burger joint we'd seen advertised around the hotel. Half way walking there he started saying things like "We don't have to go here" and "We can go somewhere else if you want to". I said I was fine going to the restaurant we decided on as long as he was. I wasn't too attached to going to the burger place, and didn't have a strong preference. It turned out, the restaurant wasn't that great. My boyfriend admitted after we left that his "offers" were actually him trying to get us to go somewhere else because he had a hunch the restaurant wouldn't be very good. If he'd told me straight forwardly I would have gone wherever he wanted.

It happened again recently. We were deciding on a board game to play together, and after we picked and started playing, he offered that we could play a different game if I wanted to. I didn't necessarily have a strong preference on the game, but we'd already started and I figured why not finish. The game ended up being too hard for me and once again, his "offers" were because he knew I'd have a hard time.

I guess what I'm asking is, how can I be more aware of when he's trying to do this in the future? How should I handle these "offers" in the future? Is it worth it to bring this problem to him, and if so, how should I phrase it?
