I agree guardian. Prison is justifiable for men who can handle the same, if not more, deplorable conditions as women. So, lets not reform a system for the people destined to spend more time there.

I have an idea. Eliminate all women's prisons. Foucault makes an interesting argument. For women, lets just go back to corporal punishment. 30 lashes for speeding! Chop off those thieving hands! False accusers get iron masks!

Great idea guardian. Proving once again you always understand the heart of the issue.

By why should it be "different?" Why does someone have the right to just "decide" that men aren't deserving of an equal justice system? If prison is so harmful and costly for such cases, why would you want to restrict this approach to only half the population, and a minority of the prison population? Why not apply to everyone?

And why generalize? Isn't it far more efficient and practical to apply these guidelines by cases circumstance rather than arbitrary categorizations?

There is an endless stream of sexism in academia selectively addressing issues for women only, when the issues described clearly apply to men or women equally, or even more so to men.

When did it become OK to only care about people on the basis of their gender. When did this extreme sexism become not only acceptable, but commendable.
