Here is a problem I have with these leave policies and how they are calculated.

(Canadian Example)

Lets say we have Jane and Jim

Janes gets way more time off than Jim, presumably because of the physical toll of giving birth BUT, here is the thing, why isn't Janes six weeks of physical recovery time counted in the total, after all , if the reason for giving the father time off is bonding with the child, then presumably Jane would be bonding in that first 6 weeks too.
