I did some research on fetal alcohol syndrome once and I uncovered a news report from the late 80s... the Albany chapter of NOW was protesting a local regulation about putting up warning signs in bars directed at pregnant women. That was sexist, see, if you weren't also going to have signs warning men about the effects of alcohol on sperm (and feminists totally care about men's sperm, you know!). You came-away with the distinct impression that they thought pregnant women ought to go party as much as they want to, with the fetus being a worthless clump of cells if mommy says so and any restrictions on her behavior are misogynistic in origin rather than, say, health-related.

The New York Chapter of NOW ended-up disavowing the action because it was indefensibly stupid. But, hey, just goes to show that the local feminist yokels are into defending a woman's right to birth a brain-damaged child.

Ive posted this before but

A few years ago I did bartender training. One of the lessons was about serving pregnant women. You CANNOT refuse to serve a pregnant woman alcohol because it's sex discrimination.

However, if she gets drunk on your watch and the baby gets FAS, she can sue you for child endangerment.

Find any person who works at a social security office and I guarantee you they know of at least one woman with 4+ children who are all [!] getting a monthly disability check from their office.

Its really infuriating. They know these women are drinking on purpose during pregnancy for a check and society has tied its hands from stopping them.
