This is the view on relationships which has been promoted by movies and TV shows for decades.

If a man cheats on her wife, he is an asshole, period. There can be no justifications.

however if a woman cheats on her husband, the movie or show will try to justify her cheating by showing her husband as abusive (physically or verbally), or a cheater (which can not explain why the wife's infidelity is shown in a positive light), or inattentive, or unattractive, or any other stupid reason.
And even if the husband has no flaws, the movie still justifies the woman's infidelity with phrases like "she and her husband were not meant to be together" or "she found her soulmate"
And these are the media which shape the minds of our sons and daughters

The only person that chose to break the established boundaries of that relationship, rather than talk out these issues and work on them with her partner, was the cheater. A principled person would try to fix the relationship, and if a fix wasn't forthcoming, would leave. An unprincipled person stays in the relationship because it's known, safe, reliable, financially beneficial, and deceives and manipulates to get what they want/need elsewhere.

No one DRIVES someone to become a liar, user and manipulator. They choose that road.
