As I understand it, yes, it is legal to have single sex organisations in the UK. What is not legal, is to do what some golf clubs used to do, and have two classes of members. They used to allow women to use the club house and facilities, but not to play on the course. All members of a club must be treated equally. There are still, I believe, men-only clubs in London, and also gay saunas, which, quite obviously, will be single sex establishments.
