I accepted that I should have friends after reading Jordan Peterson. According to his lectures, I've been depressed pretty much my whole life because of how I lived my life.
My goal is to learn the followings well enough to be comfortable and confident while doing them:
-
Learn how to meet and greet people.
-
Learn how to hangout at other people's houses without being too quiet.
-
Learn how to maintain a fun conversation with one person.
-
Learn how to hangout in groups while eating out or doing something.
-
Learn how to join the conversation in groups.
Personal goals:
-
Get more comfortable in my skin. Relax.
-
Be more open. Be more shameless to be loud. Be more shameless to make mistakes, fail, emberrass myself.
-
Identify and be aware of my good behaviours. Be less interested in what people think of my behaviours.
Methods:
Fast:
Hangout with high status people who are awesome, attractive, rich and so on. Try to reach my goals with them.
Cons:
Pros:
- "Look at your 5 closest friends. Those five friends are who you are."
Slow:
Hangout with low status people who are not awesome, not attractive, not rich and so on. Reach my goals with them. Then hangout with higher status people. Cut contact with low status people slowly.
Cons:
-
If I go that path, I might like it so much that I'd forget about improving myself. I never had real friends. So I will like it a lot.
-
"Look at your 5 closest friends. Those five friends are who you are."
Pros:
- Easier on my nerves. I can be more free because I would care less about what they think. Maybe.
Which method should I choose and why? Slow or fast?
