Conscription if the one of the most blatant male disparities worldwide, but is rarely discussed or given attention. It's a major violation of equality, it's mind boggling how "gender neutral" countries like Austria/Finland etc carry on the practice with seemingly no awareness as to the inequality it is.

All South Korean men aged 18 to 35 must perform military service, but the country's Constitutional Court ruled Thursday that the government must provide alternative civilian roles for those who refuse to take up arms, due to religious or political reasons.

We have something similar in my country. It's kinda like being a conscientious objector. They interview you, and you are supposed to articulate why your personal ideology opposes your serving in the military. It's usually accepted, but most people prefer to get a psychiatric evaluation claiming they're unfit for duty instead, because that guarantees a pass.
