Unfortunately, some intact males don't really grasp the concept that the foreskin is where a considerable amount of their genital sensory tissue is. Pop culture tends to give the impression that the glans is the primary source of sensual pleasure for a man and the most sensitive part of the penis, and at best that the foreskin is like a "protective covering" for the glans. The reality is that the foreskin itself (including the frenulum and the ridged band) is richly-innervated erogenous tissue in its own right, and includes the most sensitive parts of the penis. The glans of course also has sensory nerve endings, but the lion's share of its nerve endings are nocioceptors, and it doesn't have the advanced pattern of innervation with corpuscular end organs such as Meissner's corpuscles found in the foreskin's ridged band and frenulum area.

Nick Kusturis has talked about how devastating the loss of sensual pleasure was after he got his foreskin removed at age 18. He didn't understand just how much of the pleasure of his sensual experiences was contingent upon having a full set of sensory organs.

This was really interesting. I have mild phimosis and almost had an adult circumcision to solve it. I had my appointment slot booked but couldn’t go through with it and ended up cancelling a day before the op. I ended up using stretching exercises to get me 90% “normal”, but penetration does still hurt unless using a condom or lube. So I can’t have that wondedful kind of spontaneous sex, where you just get at it without stopping to wrap up, but I don’t regret my decision.
