They do tbf, but it'd be interesting to see if he makes a similar gesture on Mother's day.

[–]HeForeverBleeds 28 points29 points30 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If he's not even going to say "happy Fathers' Day" on Fathers' Day, he's not going to say it on Mothers' Day

[–]skwishy29 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Then make that gesture yourself

Considering the disadvantages children raised by single mothers tend to have, I really don't see that single mothers deserve the massive amount of praise they get in society. Certainly not the praise that belongs to fathers on Fathers' Day

This reinforces the notion that mothers are just as good as two parents and that fathers aren't valuable in children's lives. Which statistics show two be a myth. So fuck this guy, and also all the cunts who liked his ignorant post on Twitter

[–]ReliableDart134 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

I don't see a problem with giving praise to single mothers, because although they might not be as beneficial as two parents it's not their fault. It's usually because the father left or was abusive or something, and raising kids on your own is a very difficult thing to do. He's not praising single motherhood itself just appreciating single mothers.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't see a problem with giving praise to single mothers,

You should not use Father's Day as your opportunity to praise single mothers. At least, not as a "statement". On a personal level, do what you want.

Mothers have a day already. One that gets far more media coverage as it is. Oh what's it called... oh, right. Mother's Day. You don't need to co-opt Father's Day and make it about mothers.

[–]HeForeverBleeds 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And sometimes it's because she alienates the father from the children. Either way, Fathers' Day is not the day for mothers, single or otherwise

[–]bufedad 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women initiate 80% of divorces, and receive no consequences for keeping fathers out of their children's lives (unless the father has six figures to blow on repeated custody hearings).

A lot of "single mothers" are absolutely at fault for being single mothers.

[–]alclarkey 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Got any evidence to back this up?

[–]SirSausagePants 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

No all cases are the same. In my case, my father didn't give a fuck. I saw him a total of 4 times between the time my mother divorced him (I was 4) till I came to the U.S. at 14.

I praise my mother on Father's day, because she did the work. She did the best she could, no child support checks, all her hard work. She would even go without food because she could only afford one plate to divide between my brother and I.

My father had 4 other kids with different women (most before my brother and I) He only took care of the youngest one, and stayed with his mom. All my other siblings have a similar story of him not being around. My point is, sometimes (not always) is not the woman's fault that the dad didn't give a fuck.

[–]alclarkey 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That's different than what this guy was doing. Your mom was a hard worker and your dad was an asshole. Anecdotal. This guy is giving homage to the entire group of single moms, and a sizable portion of them don't deserve it. And on father's day no less.

[–]SirSausagePants 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I get where you're coming from, but just as he should not make blanket statements, neither should you. If you were to say "Some/a lot of single moms are so by choice, and actively block the father form raising their child" then I'm 100% behind that, because I know for a fact that those women exist.

[–]alclarkey 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you were to say "Some/a lot of single moms are so by choice

Which is exactly what I said.

[–]ReliableDart134 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

To be honest, no, I didn’t research this beforehand, I made a generalization based off my personal experience and general accepted beliefs (which I acknowledge is a fallacy.) However, if you can find anything else to prove otherwise I’ll gladly take a look. On that note though, I think the burden of proof is to prove otherwise because the belief of the status quo is that single motherhood is based on problems with the male side of the relationship.

[–]alclarkey 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Women initiate 70% of divorces, and 50% of breakups. Only a small fraction of people are in actual abusive relationships with both male and female abusers in relatively equal numbers. Thus going forward we can say that at good portion of those breakups where children are involved are frivolous and caused by women. There's no reason to revere single mothers over fathers.

[–]ReliableDart134 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Oh I absolutely agree that we should revere single fathers just as much as single mothers. I just don’t agree with the fact that we can characterize single mothers as people who are jeopardizing the well being of their children for frivolous reasons. There is always a serious issue at hand whenever custody over a child is disputed, in which case of course I don’t think the mother should get any preferential treatment over the father (which obv happens and needs to change.) But we can at least acknowledge that a decent number of single mothers are just trying to do the best for their child, and that was the group that Trevor Noah was referencing.

[–]alclarkey 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

that was the group that Trevor Noah was referencing.

On father's day.

[–]ReliableDart134 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I think he was raised by a single mother, hence he mentioned it because he doesn’t have a father to recognize for Father’s Day

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So don't mention Father's Day. "Love you mom!" Or say something like "To all the fathers out there who stuck around, good for you." Or something. Not "HAPPY FATHER'S DAY MOM."

She's got a day already. Being a single mother doesn't make you a father. You're still a mother, and there's a day for that already. If he wants to call up his mother and personally wish her a happy father's day, that's fine to me. But he made it a public statement which is absurd.

People always do this shit on Father's Day. It's like clockwork. Let fathers have this one stupid day to be appreciated slightly without it being made into yet another celebration of mothers.

Single mothers are praised all year round.

[–]Kyle_Fischer 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Perhaps his mother was a whore who slept around and didn't tell his father that she was pregnant, so he is not aware that he has a son. Or maybe his mother was a psychopath who caused him to be alienated him from his father after she filed for divorce through massive amounts of brainwashing.

There are many reasons why a son does not have a relationship with his father that has nothing to do with the stereotype of a man being an abuser and his wife leaving him to escape abuse.

As far as facts go, women are twice as likely to be the perpetrator of nonreciprocal violence in a relationship than men. So, it is actually more likely that a man is being abused by a woman, than it is that a woman is being abused by a man.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Their ass is the evidence. Women are encouraged to break up families and live off of welfare. Women are more violent than men

[–]hackableyou 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I don’t know who that is but I don’t care to. Lol

[–]Lethn 11 points12 points13 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The replacement for Jon Stewart, I can't believe the balls of these people to try and pull this.

[–]hackableyou -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh well he is following his political party as expected.

[–]CelticsGold 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

He's a South African, who came to this country supposedly to do comedy, even though he's deeply unfunny. When John Stewart vacated the Daily Show, this guy was installed as his replacement. Mostly because he's a black guy from South Africa, which apparently gives him a license to endlessly shit all over white people and the United States. Even though he came here and has made millions of US dollars with his mediocre comedy, he still holds everything American with contempt.

[–]hackableyou 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I realize why I don’t know him. I don’t watch those kind of shows.

[+]CelticsGold1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (19 children) | Copy Link

Just when I thought it was impossible to hate this race baiting faggot any more, he raises he bar. Guess he tipped his hand as to what's wrong with him: no Dad.

[+]UsernameWasInUse1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (18 children) | Copy Link

Why is calling him a faggot necessary? Like really, why is it a necessity to say?

C'mon bruh.

[+]CelticsGold1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (17 children) | Copy Link

Because I think he's a faggot and not even in the gay sense. He's just another globalist nu-fag cuck and I don't like him or anyone like him. Also, not your bruh, pal.

[+]UsernameWasInUse1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (16 children) | Copy Link

You know that the word faggot is a derogatory term for gay people. I doubt you were calling him a bundle of sticks bound together to be used as fuel.

Also, I'm not your pal, friend.

[+]Lethn1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Oh fuck off, take your language and tone policing elsewhere.

[+]CelticsGold1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (13 children) | Copy Link

I don't care if it's derogatory towards homosexuals or if it offends your delicate sensibilities to see the word faggot used to describe Trevor Noah. There is still freedom of speech in this country even if people like you are going out of your way to police what other people say.

[+]UsernameWasInUse1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (12 children) | Copy Link

I'm not in your country. And it doesn't offend my "delicate sensibilities" to see the word faggot used to describe someone. Especially someone I've never fucking heard of. But it does tell me a lot about you. And makes me wonder what other kind of dumb shit you spout off and use the "I have free speech I can say what I like KYS if you don't like it faggot" excuse.

I was also brought up to show people respect, when it's deserved. But even if they didn't deserve it, I wouldn't go around calling someone a faggot because I don't like them. The same way I wouldn't walk around being a massive racist to someone purely because I don't like them. Guess I'm just not a cunt. Have a good day :)

[+]CelticsGold1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (11 children) | Copy Link

No you're the definition of a virtue signaling cunt. Take your identity politics and go pound sand in whatever shithole you hail from, faggot.

[+]UsernameWasInUse1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (10 children) | Copy Link

Well I'm not. I just don't like it when people start being massively bigotted. If you think that's an issue, you're the problem here bud.

God, imagine if your child turned out to be a homosexual and your first response is "Shut up you little faggot not in my house"

I envy people who have never had the missfortune of speaking to you.

I'm not gonna go pound sand because it's almost midnight here in the UK and I don't feel like going to the beach right now, but you need to put the beer down and sleep it off. Been hitting it a bit too hard today pal.

[+]CelticsGold1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (9 children) | Copy Link

Oh God, no wonder you're such a nunce, you're English. Say no more. Sorry about your country mate, I used to have massive respect for the Brits. But now you're just an embarrassment. No wonder you're so touchy about the word faggot, you've been bending over and taking it from all the muslim scum your government has allowed in. It's too late now, they've taken over your country. SAD!

FREETOMMYROBINSON

[+]UsernameWasInUse1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (8 children) | Copy Link

I hate the word faggot because my cousins gay and I can only imagine the amount of shit he got from fucking broken condoms like you for it. Honestly people like you are total pieces of shit and don't deserve the free speach you hold so dearly when you use it as an excuse to be a colossal fucking cunt who was lucky their parents coat hanger was too fucking short.

Oh and by the way:

Fuck Tommy Robinson. He was arrested and rightfully so, and constantly acted like a total sack of shit. Fuck off you pathetic little fucking alcoholic and wait to hear about your kids being involved in a school shooting. Stupid fucking cunt probably thinks those are faked as well.

[–]jhodder85 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Is it shocking that someone as liberal as trevor Noah has only his mother to wish happy father's day to?

[–]Skeletor6669 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Did you see a study that shows children raised by single mothers are more likely to become liberal or are you pulling this out of your ass?

[–]jhodder85 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh I'm purely going on anecdotal evidence based on personal experience. I do not claim to have evidence. I suppose there is the number of fatherless homes in the black community but it doesn't necessarily apply to trevor as those statistics are for the United states and not south Africa and also doesn't equal liberalism. I won't try to defend that statement as anything more than observation of my own surroundings.

[–]Kyle_Fischer -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, jhodder85!

I am living proof that a child raised by a single mother can be conservative......probably because most unmarried liberal women who get knocked up abort the child, amiright Skeletor6669?

[–]311chuckb 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I feel a big reason people get upset about this is the women who call themselves a single parent while getting plenty of co-parenting support. I sure know one person who checked the single parent box while getting significant monetary and physical support from the father. Being a truly single parent would be completely exhausting and deserves as much support as possible but if this was meant as an attack on fathers actually fathering I am not sure how that helps.

[–]bufedad 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

. Being a truly single parent would be completely exhausting and deserves as much support as possible

No. It deserves no support. I'm sorry, I've seen too many women try to force the fathers out of their children's lives.

Fathers are left helpless to defend themselves, unless they have six figures to repeatedly go to court to enforce the court orders.

[–]Kyle_Fischer 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True.

[–]311chuckb 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I 110% agree that a vast majority are this case. This is exactly what happened to me. I had to fight tooth and nail for every scrap with my daughter while her mother claimed she was a single parent with a masters degree and plenty of child and spousal support and making every visit difficult. But I do feel for the woman who’s husband dies and she’s left to sort it out. Those are the people I feel for in this. Total abuse by many to hurt the few who need help.
