IMHO, this person is solving a problem that doesn't exist. Women have choices, men have virtually none, so lets solve women's problem.

So, it shocked me how many people believe that if a woman has sex with another woman, and is married it isn't cheating.

In other words, men are still limited to what they've always been limited to and women should not be held to any real standards or rules. That's how all subjective rules work. Men are always held to a higher standard.

Exactly. Where I work, men have two choices (per se), wear a suit and tie or wait till casual Fridays, which is only once a month. Whereas women get to wear anything that is appropriate, just like this place in the article.

Well, after all, this is Leah Fessler, the crusading journalist who broke the scandal of sexual harassment of household robots.

I dunno. I kinda like her, mainly because she's an engineer, and it's good to see a car company being helmed by an engineer. Changing the dress code to just "dress appropriately". Is probably a bigger boon for male staff than female staff (for whom that's pretty much all it is already). I can't blame this woman for the fact that the writers of this article really wants this to be a women's issue when it just isn't and probably never was.

Who's agenda seems to be making the lives of female employees better. Unless they are cutting executive compensation and spreading it around, this usually means less resources for men.

Meh, like I said at least on this instance the "helping women" angle seems far more inserted by the author than by the subject. Note how the is never actually quoted to that effect. The closest they come is a quote at the beginning about men and women in the workplace that has nothing to do with the rest of the article. Reads to me like amatuerish bad journalism.

That said, I don't much about what else she's done since becomeing CEO, so I could very well be wrong. Just saying she's an engineer as CEO, I like that, and she hasn't given me a reason to dislike her yet.

Now that I look a bit closer, you seem to be right, it's looks like the journalist who's sole concern is women and not Ms Barra.

We shall see what we shall see I guess.

[–]tenchineuro 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

When asked what men can do to improve women’s lives at work, Mary Barra gets straight to the point: “Stop making assumptions,” she tells Quartz.

Is this a pressing issue for most men at work, improving their female co-workers lives?

It's not but according to feminists, it should be.
