So he sued Facebook on the grounds that their fact checking was a defamation of his character. Facebook’s defense - the fact checking is an opinion, so it cannot be defamation

This is the point at which critical social justice - or at least the thing which is referred to as critical social justice - entirely jumps the shark for me.

The insistence that only one group must always, solely and exclusively be the victim is very obviously absurd, and probably pretty damaging to more or less everyone, especially women in this instance.

It's also the point at which the mask slips, particularly with regard to the real hard core of modern feminism. Try as I might (and I have done my best) I can't justify why anyone would want to actively censor information about men being the victims of violence without that being directly driven by outspoken, direct and unequivocal hatred of men, and a resulting desire to see men brutalised and killed, to laugh at their agony and glory in their suffering, to enjoy their deaths and to mock their legacy when they are gone.

The number of people (men and women) on this planet who will publicly call for violence against whole classes of people is usually fairly limited. Historically, most people who hold views like this work hard to keep them quiet, but now it has become a badge of honour.

It's total, absolute, ultra-hardline, fundamentalist sociopathy as a political movement. It's a mental illness. It's about the most awful thing imaginable, and big companies support it?

What on earth is the average guy supposed to do when this is the penalty proposed for his mere existence, and this is seen as an acceptable political point of view, by anyone, anywhere, at any time?

I think it is hypocritical for men's rights activists to dismiss the gender pay gap as a myth since women make different choices that lead to them being paid less on average, but then complain about issues like men being a victim of violent crime more often.

Yes, men are more likely to be a victim of violent crime then women. But similarly to the gender pay gap, this is probably because men make different choices then women. Namely, men will put themselves in dangerous situations more often. Men will chose to join gangs more often then women. Men will chose to get into fights more often then women. Men will chose to go out late at night in dodgy areas more often then women. Men will chose to take dangerous jobs like being a police officer or security guard more often then women. All of these things come together to mean men are more likely to be a victim of violence then women, since they are in more dangerous positions.

Now, a VERY interesting question we should be asking is WHY men are making those decisions. Why are men putting themselves in dangerous situations more often? Is it just because of basic male biology, men are just more risk taking then women? Or is it because in our culture violence against men is seen as less bad, which leads to men be more willing to risk it happening to them? If the latter is true we need to change our culture.

BUT, the same logic then must be used with the gender pay gap. Why are women making choices that lead to them being paid less? Is it because women naturally care less about money then men? Or is it because there is still a lot of cultural pressure for women to look after children and do chores instead of working long hours? Why don't we change our culture then?

What is hypocritical is though, is to say the wage gap doesn't exist because women make different choices, but then complain about disproportionate violence against men which literally exists for the same reason, men making different choices. Either both of these things are a problem or neither. Chose one, don't be hypocritical.
