During my commute to school in the mornings, I tend to listen to NPR. My home State has some special programming that airs at select times, and I was listening to one such program.

The topic of the day was about vaccines, and the (incredibly frustrating) subset of the population who is completely against vaccines, especially vaccinating your children. Frankly, in my opinion, if you don't vaccinate your children, you're labeled as a terrible parent. Not only are you putting your kids needlessly at harm, you put other people's children at harm as well. However, these opinions are outside of the point of this sub.

The shows guests were discussing the issue, and were clearly on the side of "Vaccinations are good, cuz evidence and science". Good discussions were had by all.

However, one lady called in to the show with an obvious chip on her shoulder (you could tell by her tone of voice). She voiced a complaint about the "obvious bias of today's panel". She had a question about one why the HepB vaccine is given to newborns. Then, she laid this bomb on us (and I'm paraphrasing a bit):

"I think one of your panelists said earlier about how parents are 'ignorant' of what's best for their children, as far as their health goes. I have a problem with that because most children's health decisions are made by mothers, so what your panelist really means is that MOTHERS are ignorant. I don't feel that that's a good thing to say, especially in today's day-and-age."

Seriously? Just because you're a mother means I can't voice my opinion that the choices you make for your child are based in ignorance? Just because it makes you FEEL bad means I can't say it, even though it's a fact that not vaccinating your child is a Bad Thing? Holy shit...

Seriously, my head was left spinning after that crap.
