In 1964, year after Feminine Mystique, Betty Friedan was on national television bashing older generation of men and praising Baby Boomers who would later be denounced as misogynists, just as GenX were, just as Millennials will be

This is pretty fascinating. Betty Friedan is saying something very similar to what is being said in feminist media (which is pretty much all of media, except freaking foxnews) today, that younger generation of men is liberating themselves from 'toxic' stoic hegemonic masculinity of older men. She's saying the exact same thing in 1964. (She additionally uses the word 'Prussian'(!), which modern feminists will never come up with tho). And she is referring to baby boomers. In other words, Betty Friedan said that men were liberating themselves from 'toxic' macho masculinity already more than 50 years ago!

But, how are baby boomers (who are now middle aged or older ) described today in feminist media? Well, they are now the older generation of men that has 'toxic' attitudes that have to be renounced by younger generation of men. And the younger generation of men is now being praised for liberating themselves, albeit slowly. Familiar...

So, what's happening here? Apparently, every new generation of men is first being praised for being 'better than their grandpas' but when they reach their middle age they will be discarded as no more than the bad old misogynist macho dinosaurs! The same thing that happened to boomers and genxers will happen to millennials. If civilization doesn't collapse by then the papers in 2030s will be accusing millennial men of 'toxic' stoic macho masculinity.
