Problem is that there are two standards being used. So an innocent finding in a court of law does not necessarily mean innocent according to the university system. You cannot assume that different findings mean a miscarriage of justice. We need to hold the universities to their own standards and hit them with Title IX complaints demonstrating that their administrators and equity offices are sexist in treatment of male accusers and victims.

While universities do have their own standards, they are, or should be, for matters that are not crimes, which should be left to the criminal justice system. Where a matter is a crime and the accused has been acquitted, or not charged, they should not be holding their own tribunals.

Agreed generally they have no understanding of legal practice. Certainly in my university some of the administrators who have responsibility in this area don’t seem to even know the federal and state laws on harassment. They are unaware that their actions are often asking students to incriminate themselves and they often don’t follow their own written protocols. Their focus seems to be exclusively on support of women making allegations. They will announce that they offer equal support to male students but I have my doubts that it happens in practice.

From my POV, all this is irrelevant. They should not be trying people for crimes.

They should hit these colleges (as some men have done already) where it hurts: that is, through their finances. At some point, it will become so financially painful for them that they will reject feminist demands completely.

A criminal acquittal doesn't necessarily mean the student didn't violate the student code of conduct. Universities can and do have codes that prohibit actions/behaviors that aren't illegal.

The important thing is for University codes and standards be enforced fairly and equally for all students...that's where they're currently failing miserably.

Ah but they have decided to take on the in loco parentis role because they decide that students are perfectly capable of incurring a lifelong debt for their education but are incapable of looking after themselves in social interactions. The pattern is repeated in the modern workplace where the HR department has become the parent figure for toddlers to call on.
