Women only seats in public buses, women only buses, women only local trains, women only compartments in train, reserved seats for women district /state /national political positions, quotas for govt. /other jobs, special tax reliefs, special bank itself, etc. are a norm in India.

Not everywhere is as progressive as Western countries. To view an isolated action without the context is silly.

It's very likely that this is a necessity due to the treatment of women in Colombia.

Do you have any experience of Colombia to know whether this is not totally justified?

Two thoughts:

1) I park in the “woman with child” spaces at the supermarket because it’s not like kids are a fucking handicap. They made a choice, walk to the damn store. If you don’t like doing that, don’t be pregnant.

2) don’t feel bad for Colombian women, they’re hot as hell and have no problem throwing a cast iron frying pan at your head for something as small as leaving the toilet seat up.

No, being sexually assaulted is never a good thing, and that’s completely on the men (as we’re seeing in the US today).

We all know attractive women have very high intrinsic value and power, plus it’s stereotypically true that Latin women are stereotypically “volatile” and very much willing to “defend” themselves and let a guy know what she thinks by throwing a frying pan.

I take issue with Colombian society giving women special treatment vs. correcting the problem with the males in their society who are assaulters. Seems like not fixing the root cause of the problem, and instead making women more special because “men are animals”.
