Am I the only person that sees the problem with this?

The unfortunate truth is that male victims of nearly any crime are virtually invisible to the general population. In fact, many infrastructures are built on this lack of visibility, as the acknowledgement of these issues can lead to shifts in funding, therefore cuts in pay and staffing. You would think that exposing these kinds of issues individuals face would be enough to address this lack of attention, but individual cases tend to be misunderstood as the exception to the norm. So every time any group effort focuses on women solely as a victimized group, it helps perpetuate the notion that the norm in society is a female victim. In some cases and crimes, women tend to be more victimized than men. In some cases and crimes, men are without a doubt more victimized than women. All of that being said, there are people across the board that are victims regardless of identity or position in society. Unfortunately, many men are tokenized when they come forward as either the exception or a victim for another aspect of their identity. Essentially, gay, bisexual, and trans men are categorized as LGBT victims, racial, religious, and ethnic minority men are categorized as POC victims, and working class men are categorized as Capitalist Infrastructure victims.

Ultimately it seems in life that the only way people are willing to give a shit about your problems is if you can fit their internal image of a victim, thus giving reason not to help you, but to pity you.

The strong should help the weak, not judge them. Everyone has aspects of themselves at some point that make them strong and it comes upon everyone during those moments to appreciate how horrible it would be to be pitied when in a difficult position, but moreso how horrible it is to be invisible.

There are no easy answers. People like to feel good. Altruism by proxy becomes more of the norm every day into our hyperactive media-driven society.

Just try your best to find strength in yourself. Maybe, when the time comes, your strength can be a change in the right direction for the world.

Can I offer a little advice from the outside?

You're likely to see a lot more traction if you focus on how there aren't resources in some areas for men, rather than focusing on how there are for women. Many people like me would find it much easier to advocate for this sort of thing if it wasn't so closely associated with dumping on feminism.

Might as well. I am (THIS) close to just writing down "self identifying transgender, trans-racial black lesbian woman" on all my school documents. Fuck em.

Charity is charity, and that is the cause they decided on.

Their actions are not hurting anyone so its not really an issue.

Im not saying that there isnt male domestic abuse victims, but if thats what they decide to do with their time and it is bettering the world i wont be upset.

Remember these are just California kids, students trying to help a cause.

I cant fault them for that.

I don't see a problem with it. It's a private company providing a charity service. There are many charities that only serve a specific set of people, like women, Christians, gays, blacks, or whatever.

If they were receiving government funding, then I would have a problem with it.

Seems like the only way you can get noticed as a male is if you are a transgender lesbian presenting as male.
