Ripley, killing the zenomorph mother with the loader is seen as being a badass. She didn't invent, build or probably know how to maintain it. The film kills all the men and celebrates the woman using their tech like it was her own. Hollywood feminism. Same scene using magic: Molly Weasley, a powerful witch, devoted wife and mother, kills the fuck out of Bellatrix using her own power and her passion for those she loves and wants to protect. That's real feminine power, the kind feminists have talked women out of for the fools gold of male power.

Menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth and lactation have been shrouded in shame and secrecy for centuries. Until very recently, just talking about them, even among women, was taboo.

Can you think of any bodily fluids, male or female, which are openly and comfortably discussed in polite circumstances?

Is a taboo really the reason why men don't sit around discussing their urine, semen, snot or vomit? Or maybe it's just that discussion of bodily functions is generally considered gross, regardless of whether you're a man or a woman.

I'm not sure what this sentence is trying to convey. Nobody readily talks about urinating, bowl movements, mucus, and many other less than pleasant bodily functions. The fact that the common layperson doesn't like to delve into the topic about menstruation should naturally conclude with "misogyny" is not surprising. Its funny that she never thanks or names either Earle Haas or Gregory Goodwin Pincus, the men who invented the modern tampon and contraceptive pill.
