The men who have to preface these statements with "I have a daughter" are hoping that the existence of their female child adds value to their statement.

Unfortunately, the existence of the poor sap's daughter does nothing to compensate for the existence of his evil penis.

When a man says "I have a daughter", obviously that doesn't mean that's the ONLY reason they're against sexual assaults. It doesn't mean they weren't thinking of sexual assaults before they had daughters. Or didn't care about sexual assaults before they had daughters. Reading the comments on Facebook are cringe-inducing
