I'm sure many here don't like Shapiro since he's conservative. So I'm sure this post will be 'controversial'. But I do find it funny that the son is basically giving his feminist mom the middle finger by working for a conservative.

It's good in principle to offer mentorship to the children of crazy parents. They're certainly a deserving cause.

And the kid might turn out to be a good intern. Generalizing from meeting very sensible kids with crazy parents, I've sometimes wondered if there's a curve where an over-the-top crazy parent does less damage than a moderately crazy parent. A moderately crazy parent fucks up their child in subtle ways that take a long time to disentangle. A transparently crazy parent is like a parent with a disability - the kid has to face reality and become the grown-up in the family sooner than they'd have wanted ... they lose out on some of their childhood, but they do become solid citizens.

But the mentorship offered should be lowkey and discreet. This stuff is better done in the community by people who sincerely have the boy's interest at heart - the parents of schoolfriends taking him under their wing, or a teacher finding him a summer job. The public announcement plays into the mother's hands by piling on to the drama she's created and giving her more of the attention she's seeking.

Here's the best line from the article: “My relationship with my mom is good, I respect her right to post her content and have her views," he said. "Thankfully she asks us before posting stuff like this to the internet, and has withheld articles we've request [sic] be so.”

This tells me that she writes EVEN MORE unhinged stuff but the two articles we've seen about her boys were the ones they found least objectionable.

I'd love to see what they didn't approve.
