You may not agree, but I think the argument is valid. Lack of outrage is reflected by lack of reporting. I can see not reporting on every robbery, but if someone is severely injured, that adds to it's news worthiness.

I suspect that acid attack has gone the way of objectification. An acid attack isn't just an attack with acid. It has come to mean an attack with acid because some cultural norm was breached or an acid attack in the perpetuation of domestic violence.

People can be objectified in many more ways than sexually. Most often I suspect at work, but some (especially men are looked at as walking ATMs). Everyone celebrates the vicious hit in football never concerning them selves over the CTE the guy is developing unless he can't get up from it. Then maybe they start thinking that there was an actual person on the receiving end of that hit.
