" But Ms Arbuckle's victory is short-lived, as she has had to file for bankruptcy and all her assets - including the ring - are being held by a trustee. "

Seems like he dodged a bullet there.

So... the judge basically said that... because the guy asked her to pay for her part of the expensive wedding she demanded.. but she couldn't.. so he said "we'll wait until you can afford the wedding YOU want".. that he ended the engagement? What kind of backwoods judge is this?

Canadian. They be crazy SJWs up there.

I'm liberal as hell and I still say that's BS. He offered a wedding, just not one good enough for her. She caused the indefiniteness of the engagement.

It is not about liberalism. It is if you entered a situation with the "Women are Wonderful" mindset and thinking the White Patriarchy is everywhere so women and non-whites are always a victim (or at least on the backfoot), then you feel that an unfair judgement in favor of a woman/poc is "balancing the scale". This is what happens when the "good of the group" outweighs the rights of the individual.

[–]chubbyronin 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Whereas liberalism is quite literally about "the needs of the few or the one outweigh the needs of the many".

[–]munky82[🍰] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Nope, "liberty" is about the freedom of the individual. You think of socialism... also communism.

[–]chubbyronin 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly, socialist communism is what liberals of today are advocating. Some of them even going as far as to wave the old flag of the USSR at their protests.

False. I am Canadian, trust me SJW's are the minority but yet are the loudest which makes them seem to be the majority.

So you are saying "They be crazy" ?

[–]TheDoubleDecker 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Its Toronto and Southern Ontario that Ive noticed it the worst.

[–]AnarchoElk 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

We need to do our part to rid ourselves of the shitty liberal government next election.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I actually voted for Justin based off one fact he would legalize marijuana. Everything else he was and stood for I was against.

[–]AnarchoElk 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

This is why potheads need to be deported to Australia. Destroy our country because you want to get stoned?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have to agree with this statement. Nothing more infuriating than one-policy voters, especially when it's one of self-interest - especially when that interest is getting high.

Nice try trolling kid. Maybe next time. Im not going to take the bait.

[–]-TheMasterSoldier-Thinks dinosaurs were gay frogs 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's reality, you want to destroy the country because you wanted to get stoned, you knew it, you thought about it, and did it, knowing what you did, instead of going to another state and not acting like a selfish cuck who doesn't care about anything that isn't weed.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It isnt about getting high, its about treating illness. My mother has crohn's disease. She has to take multiple prescription drugs to treat it, she could instead just consume oil that doesnt even have THC in it, but it is illegal.

Your arguement is bullshit. How about alcohol? The consumption is legal at the age of 18 and yet is the result of thousands of deaths. You are being a complete idiot.

Go fuck yourself.

A friend of mine who lives in a small, Jewish community up there, never even heard of the C-16 bill before we told him about it.

Since when is an engagement ring a gift? What is she going to do with it after the break up, wear it like a trophy? No, she's going to pawn or sell it. When an engagement ends, the original purchaser always gets the ring. This is complete bullshit and that judge should be disbarred.

[–]just_a_little_tiff 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Wrong. Look up the history of engagement rings.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm not talking about the history of engagement rings. Also I'm referring to the legalities of the US. Family law will typically give it back to the person who purchased the ring in a dispute.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I bet she had that thing appraised the moment she wore it. I'm losing hope in basic humanity.
