I hate long bathroom lines as much as the next person but to shut down a bathroom in order to "alleviate" the line is crazy. If I want to use the other bathroom because I don't wanna wait I will have to deal with those people using it not tell them to get out so I can use it. So messed up. Also ticks are the worst.

Was this a state highway-authority run rest stop? I think this would be grounds for a formal complaint. Their web site may have a form.

A loud "THIS IS DISCRIMINATION. WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS DISCRIMINATION" might have been the appropriate thing to have said because, quite frankly, people sometimes need to be reminded that men are not sacrificial mooks who exist to be pushed-around for women's comfort and pleasure. State employees might even react to such a statement.

Edit: I'm waiting for some SJW knucklehead to chime-in with "failing to have bathrooms for all 323 genders is the real discrimination."

Honestly, from what you wrote, I don't think you handled the situation very well. It sounds like you immediately assumed the worst of it and got indignant. How long did you actually wait?

The question wasn't "Where am I supposed to use the restroom?" but "How long is this restroom temporarily 'women only'?" The employee wouldn't have been standing there essentially directing traffic if this was any indefinite change. Really, that was the only pragmatic solution to this problem, and, perhaps I'm being naive, but I'd like to think the same courtesy would have been extended if the roles were reversed.

That said, this might not be legal if it was a state-run rest stop.

You know I have no problem with women stepping into the men's room. We are all adults here to do what we need to do and get out. What I do object to is bullshit like this. I am honestly surprised you didn't walk over to the soda fountain and start passing out 44oz cups to the men waiting in line.
