The use of urinals in gender-neutral bathrooms should be covered by the same arguments supporting breastfeeding in public spaces. It's something natural, and you can choose not to look.

Anyway, if I need to pee and there are lines for the stalls and no urinals, I'm going in the sink. Penn Jillette changed my perspective in the 90's when he pointed out that there's really no need to have both a urinal and a sink.

I think I'll wait to see what they do with the women's rooms. They don't need to modify them to make them gender neutral and if they do, I have no issue with this.

I actually agree that for privacy reasons the urinals should be removed. I see the environmental argument and would suggest that if it were the case, assign stalls with urinals instead of toilets.

In Sweden the move have been towards gender neutral single stall bathrooms with urinals for a few years now. My opinion has always been that this is the right way to go. But what the describe in the article is incomprehensible. There's some repressed puritanism going on here, where the people want gender neutral bathrooms but at the same time feel that women going to the toilet with men around is icky.

Why not simply switch to unisex rooms altogether?
