Thousands of dads are left in shock as DIY paternity tests soar. Up to 30,000 tests are being performed every year, says Alphabiolabs. In the UK about 750,000 babies are born every year. Feminists want the test to be illegal without the written consent of the mother.

If you hate your wife's friends you're twice as likely to split

This implies men leaving their wives because of her friends. In reality, it's almost certainly the other way round: women leaving their husbands because of the influence of their "friends."

Came here to say this. If my friends have a problem with my wife, they'll never say anything out of respect. If her friends decide they dislike me, i have no doubt they'll start planting ideas.

I never had a friend my ex liked. She didn't like my family either. I overheard her and her friends talking at a party about divorce settlements for military dependents. Comparing notes.

Maybe more men will feel comfortable filing charges against their abusive partners if men started talking to each other more.

Why do you think male only environments have been attacked so vehemently by feminists.

[+]467924 -9 points-8 points-7 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I strongly disagree with that implication, not everything bad that happens to men can be blamed on feminists. The MRM has some strong points in their favor, but this is not one of them.

Men are infamous for being closed off emotionally, just like women are infamous for always being cold and talking way too much. If men have the time and privacy to crack inappropriate jokes about the women in their lives, nothing's stopping them from sharing their feelings with each other if they so choose. They're simply choosing not to.

Everything you just said was retarded. Men's spaces have literally been systematically invaded and destroyed. A club cannot exclude women. There are countless women's only clubs. This is not something self-inflicted by emotionally retarded men. This is the result of male only spaces being invaded and destroyed. It really isn't that complicated.

I mean, I said women are known for always being cold and talking way too much so it's not like I was going out of my way to incorporate nuance. But another comment in this thread basically said women are incapable of sacrifice, so I respect the consistency implied with the word "everything" even if you didn't mean it that way.

If my friends have a problem with my wife, they'll never say anything out of respect.

Do you honestly think feminism systematically incepted this version of "respect" and "friendship" into men's minds for the express purpose of isolating men and curbing male-on-female criticism?

Like I said, MRAs have a lot of legitimate complaints. Lack of all-male spaces? Legit. Close to no parental rights? Legit. Lack of compassion from society? Legit. Socially viewed as disposable meatbags? ...You get what I'm saying. But when you lump every single male hardship together and attempt to blame it all on women, it makes it hard to take any of the real points seriously. It happen(ed) with feminism, and it'll happen with men's rights too if this trend continues.

Do you (guys) realise how much you (guys) sound like the "feminists" you criticise right now? Angry, single minded, unable to take any responsibility, or see any perspective but one where you're the victim and women are the villains. We've all seen this movie before, and it's exhausting and overdone.

Look. Your previous comment would carry a LOT more weight if more people responded in kind, or if the comment I responded to wasn't one of a man saying outright that men keep their opinions to themselves (out of "respect"), and that might explain the correlation mentioned." But you know...without the "might".

I don't have a problem with the explanation you provided, stranger things have happened. My problem is with the clearly biased interpretations, and I wouldn't even care about that if MRAs didn't constantly claim to be better.

This implies men leaving their wives because of her friends. In reality, it's almost certainly the other way round: women leaving their husbands because of the influence of their "friends."

The parent comment is fine. It at least acknowledges that there are mutiple possibilities and offers up a realistic one. I disagree with the implication that women are disloyal and flighty, but I know where I am so that's not a big deal. The comments that followed gave me insight into why a guy might feel that way.

I wrote my comment about domestic violence because it felt like most guys saw "male behavior more likely to cause this perceived problem than female behavior" and went on the defense, overcorrected ("perceived problem is actually due to female behavior times two"), and then reverse engineered "evidence" rather than thinking the issue through objectively. I felt this was all but confirmed when I got the reply, "That's not really what i was getting at, but it could be a positive outcome." Then you responded and made it official.

I admit I'm not on the same wavelength as most people in this sub, but equality is a noble cause, so I support men's rights in theory just like I support feminism in theory. But in practice, you guys both suck right now. The only thing consistently equal about feminism and the MRM is that they're equally unwilling to admit fault, compromise, or work together. It's frustrating and sad how difficult both groups make it to support good causes.

Disagree as much as you like. I've watched this in progress over half a century. It's a contributing factor in heightened male rates of suicide over that time.

That's not really what i was getting at, but it could be a positive outcome. Nobody should ensure abuse.

Somehow I read it twice and still took it as "if your wife's friends hate you you're twice as likely to split."
