A situation occurs in which you truly need your "friend"s assistance and he does not deliver. For example, you get jumped and your friend does not jump in to help. You go to jail and he refuses to pick you up or help with bail. You go to the hospital and he does not inquire after your health or visit. A girl cheats on you and your friend knows but says nothing. He bangs your girl or plate and does not ask and tries to hide the fact. He borrows money and never even makes the token effort to repay. He puts a woman before the friendship in any context.

Friend of 20+ years (I'm 30) started dating an "ex"-escort and got oneitis for her. I have no family in the state I reside and this dude was the closest thing. Made plans with him for Thanksgiving and bought a bunch of shit and confirmed later only to be blown off for him to meet the hookers parents. NEXT!

I nexted a "Friend" who was chasing after a plate, taking her on expensive dinners and also undermining me slyly to her....talking crap about me....

When he later told me about how she threw herself at him...I listened and gave him a bit of the benefit of the doubt.

When I saw them chatting and dancing together at a party...I nexted him.

When he texted me to say " I'm a bros before hos guy...I got your back dude"

Me: Fuck off you duplicitous piece of shit.

So that's one. Another next would be anyone who borrows money constantly and makes me chase him for it back.

If by friend you mean someone who you trust and expect to uphold that trust then a "next" should happen if your friend breaks that trust.

In general, if you're not getting more than you're giving, it's not a good friendship. This doesn't mean all your friends should be inferior, but you should be giving from excess. Your friend may be a great wingman, but he needs lifting advice. You may be a long time power builder, but could use a wingman. You give him more than he's giving you, he's giving you more than you're giving him, both of you are giving shit that isn't really worth much to you individually, you're both improving from the interaction. This is beyond compromise, it's collaboration.

Shared experiences make a huge part of it as well, you should be able to understand each others perspectives, even if you disagree with them.

In heart, really a good friend is like the Disney fable relationship, only you're not romantically attracted. Thankfully, that's quite possible between men, I'm not sure if women can pull it off, they loathe each other. I'm pretty certain they can't.

At the end of the day, you need to weigh it. Good friends are much more rare than plates, but a trend of bad decision making and disrespect is more than enough reason to discard someone, and quickly.

He was a pot head and started getting arrested. We were just on different paths in life and I didn't want his drama spilling into my life. Haven't thought about him until now.
