There's certainly a troubling portion of anti-feminism that is rooted in traditionalism, rather than legitimate care/concern for men and gender equality. Typically, this is women who want to embrace a "traditional" role of submissive whenever it's convenient to, because that's a luxury that is available to them.

The ironic part is that this isn't even entirely anti-feminist, because most feminist movements would historically prioritize women over the issues and would legitimize/defend women's preferences over anything else. Most feminists have, historically, protested gender roles they didn't like, while firmly enforcing others because it benefited them. At no point in the history of feminism has there ever been any call to women towards the purpose of embracing or appreciating less "masculine" men or stay-at-home fathers.

Amazing the number of feminist friends I have who wailed about The Patriarchy for years, and have since jumped at the original patriarchal structure of being a stay at home mother being provided for by the husband. They inevitably square this circle by framing it in terms of feminism being about choice.

They continue to call themselves feminists and wail about The Patriarchy.

This kind of stuff always feels a bit fetish-y, if you know what I mean. Like those people who role-pay being "Goreans". It doesn't feel like the soundest theoretical basis for anti-feminism and I can imagine she'll get tired of it after a while.

That said, the comment seems a bit mean-minded. If she's happy, and her husband is happy, as long as it's all consensual, what's the harm? Whatever floats your boat, and all that...
