The differences in Male and Female Immune systems which place men at higher risks of sepsis and cytokine-mediated death show the claim to be Bunkum and Opinion, not supported by fact.

It can be argued that across all three major causes of men dying earlier than women—accidents, suicide and heart disease—men are wholly responsible for their own early graves: male life is cheap because that’s how they act. While such an attitude probably explains the overwhelming social indifference to the gender death gap, it doesn’t make it right.

Social indifference is great in all "gaps" where men are disadvantaged. So, no, that doesn't explain it.

EDIT: a bit more context: Education gap(s), work hours gap, incarceration gap, sentencing gap, duty gap (what are your legal responsibilities as a citizen), housing gap (the likelihood of getting a rental), suicide gap, homeless gap, health care gap (how much money is spend on gender-specific research and treatments), likability/threat stereotype gap (how likely you are treated friendly/ not-friendly), insurance gap (how likely it is to get an insurance and what it costs), violence gap (the likelihood of getting attacked violently), domestic violence initiation gap (the likelihood of getting drawn into a fight with your partner), happiness gap, social safety net gap (the likelihood of getting help when in trouble), divorce initiation gap, and many, many more.

But all we talk about are "women's gaps", the number of women in boards of listed companies, for example. It's almost funny but actually it's tragic. This can't go on but there is no real signs of it ending.

One interesting theory is that it is due to iron accumulation. It builds up as you age and has negative health consequences. Women don't have this problem due to menstruation. Post-menopausal women begin to 'catch up' to men in heart disease.

Regular blood donations just might be one of the best things a man can do for his health.

There are well known biological reasons for male sex to die younger. (Heart attacks and the effect of sex hormones on the immune system for a start).

There are well known psychological reasons for the male gender to die younger. Men are enormously more tolerant of risk, and more attracted to it. Men eat more meat and fat.

There isn't a clear line between biological sex and gender. E.g. I suspect risk tolerance and attraction might be affected strongly by sex hormones. Aggression certainly is.
