This quite often happens. An attempt to show discrimination against women only shows that women make a very small contribution to society in some areas. The bookshop will not do itself any good with this nonsense.

If she really believed in her feminism, she would only buy and sell books by women, for women. But then, she wouldn't have a business.. because women don't account for enough authors and readers to keep a brick and mortar book store in business.

This so screams, "I want to make a statement and support female authors but I still want to profit off the work of male authors.".

If she really wanted to do something she would take the leap and deal only in works by female authors. But she knows that would cut into her profits.

Funny. In her efforts to "support gender equality" she is undervaluing the work of male authors as if its less valuable than the work of female authors.

Why don't feminists just go buy some land and live only with other women if they hate men so much? Since most feminists are middle class or rich they have no shortage of money. Come on ladies -- put your money where your mouth is! Go create your female utopia. I'd even support a kickstarter for the project -- on condition that you film everything so we can enjoy the ensuing shitshow.

The "Auster, Paul" books were manspreading on the shelf, crowding out the "Austen, Jane" books. The last straw was when one of the Auster books started mansplaining a story about five sisters looking for husbands in Regency England. Enough, I said, and turned their swaggering blowhard spines away from view.

If you own a physical book store, you're already staring down the double barrel of obsolescence thanks to entities like Amazon and Kindle. Don't accelerate your demise by alienating half your consumer base.
