The Matriarchy exists in Canada. "if the male parent is primarily responsible, he must attach to Form RC66, Canada Child Benefits Application, a signed note from the female parent that states he is primarily responsible for all of the children in the household."

Guys, no one will help you not Trump, not Hilary, no one except you. Fight for your rights, and never fall back. We must take what belongs to us - equal rights, respect and obligations as women.

This.

The PTB will always help feminists because they scream the loudest.

Trump messed up with this one.

[–]Spoonwood[S] 10 points11 points12 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

And that Trump is a feminist comes from an article in Time where they quote Ivanka saying that he is a feminist:

http://time.com/4392409/ivanka-trump-donald-trump-feminist/

If you watch interviews you'll see him saying things which clearly contradict Trump-the-presidential candidate.

Eg. he is definitely pro choice. Doesn't like the idea of killing unborn babies but a woman should have the right to decide what's happening with her own body.

But Trump-the-presidential-candidate needed support from the far right and promised to appoint a few anti-abortion judges to win their support.

It's a fairly common thing to see in politics.

Nice try, but the definition of "feminist" that his daughter is using seems a pretty innocuous one.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Not trying to pain feminists in a more positive light, or push an anti religious agenda, but I think politicians are feminists the same way they are christian. They aren't. They have the data against feminist claims, they know feminism is bullshit. But its the narrative they have to peddle.

[–]failbus 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you look at a lot of the legislation he's signed, it's all very wishy-washy. It mentions women, but it doesn't commit any dollars to it.

It's lip service. Turns out even Trump needs to pay it.

[–]Spoonwood[S] 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

They have the data against feminist claims, they know feminism is bullshit. But its the narrative they have to peddle.

So why do they then set up a federal office of women's health but no federal office of men's health? Why does the government spend so much more money on women's health than on men's health? Wouldn't they not actually do such things if they believed it bullshit?

[–]ThirdTurnip 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Wouldn't they not actually do such things if they believed it bullshit?

The majority of politicians want one thing: to be re-elected. It's not their tens of millions of dollars being spent on health. It's ours.

It's even considered justifiable. "I'm here for a good cause and even though this thing I'm about to do isn't rational or moral, it increases my chances of staying in office so I can do other good things."

[–]Rethgil 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, that last statement you made has been the downward spiral of so many. Some make it with good intentions. Some are kidding themselves. But its that slippery slope, the grey area between pragmatism and idealism when the devil starts to go fishing. So to speak.

They continue to swear in on the Bible, you tell me.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because they have to. Its like when Reagan was paying lip service to Christianity. The guy was hardly religious.

[–]Rethgil 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think feminism has become normalised now. People may not call themselves feminists but their views pretty quickly prove a bias when it comes to men's rights on health, the law and so on.

Tax cuts helps men (more than women as we earn more) Infrastructure projects help men more (men do most of these jobs) Domestic military spending will help men (ditto) Stopping illegal immigration helps men and women by firming up wages at the bottom

I've felt that since Trump won many posters have fallen silent in this sub. I could be wrong but I get the feeling many assumed he would be some kind of saviour for men's rights, as feminists assumed Hilary would be their champion.

I'm not going to make a comment on him personally, that would sidetrack things. But I just wonder if anyone had been hoping that Trump was their hope in some way to rebalance men's rights? And if so, are they still hopeful?

[–]BichRoddy -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Can someone explain to me why mens healthy deserved any kind of mention? Aren't most of our health issues pretty well under control when it comes to awareness?

[–]Badgerz92 8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men die several years earlier than women. Suicide is one of the leading causes of death for young men and kills over 30,000 men a year, and yet there is very little research on men's mental health.

[–]Spoonwood[S] 6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There exist comparable death rates for breast cancer and prostrate cancer.

http://dailycaller.com/2010/10/05/breast-cancer-receives-much-more-research-funding-publicity-than-prostate-cancer-despite-similar-number-of-victims/

http://neoneocon.com/2013/05/29/prostate-vs-breast-cancer/

Yet, breast cancer funding receives a lot more funding. I also don't find a good reason to prefer research toward helping people who die at a younger age when we talk about disease.

In addition to what /u/Badgerz92 has said, in the United States we have an office of Women's Health. There is no federal office of Men's Health and when I've done internet searched for men's health, the first thing that pops up is the link to Women's Health page, and then not too far down I find reports of failed attempts to create a federal office on men's health.

In the State of Ohio, where I live, the government's website has a special section on women's health, but no section on women's health:

https://www.odh.ohio.gov/atoz/atoz.aspx#w

I contacted them a few years ago on this, and though I got a nice reply from them about it, I don't think there has existed any serious push for change on this.

Well male genital mutilation is still legal. This outrageous human rights violation warrants some speaking up.

[–]BichRoddy -3 points-2 points-1 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You mean the choice we have as parents to have our children circumcised? There's no reason for that to be illegal. I think most of us who are circumcised are just fine with it, I know I am. Or is there some other "mutilation" I'm not aware of that should be made illegal?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

firstly, go fuck yourself.

Secondly, I have no right to cut anything off any person that is not myself and only myself. I also have no legal right to cut anything off any girl, family or not.

I don't care if you are fine with your own mutilation, it still is mutilation equal to around 20,000 nerve endings (around 3 times more than a clitoris).

The bodies of the dead cannot be harvested for organs without prior consent, even if the parents or children of the dead DO consent.

The bodies of infant males who cannot consent CAN legally have parts of their genitals (and only their genitals) removed and for some reason that is legal, and people get upset when others point out that it should be as illegal as cutting off the bodyparts of infant girls.

[–]Rethgil 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Is this a joke? Male suicide rates are one of the biggest killers. Stress is one of the biggest killers. Prostrate cancer is another.

Women don't sufferers even slightly comparably here.

But you won't find a tenth of the spending on campaigns for awareness of this, OR for research or actual physical help. Unlike female suicides. Female cancers. Female stress related things. These all get huge sums of money for all aspects and areas.

And thats just off the top of my head. Were you not aware of these?

[–]BichRoddy -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I was not aware of male suicide rates, it's never something I've even thought to look in to so no, I was not aware of it. As far as prostate cancer, I am quite aware of that and I feel as if it's a widely known mens health issue. Stress I feel is very objective and can't be considered a killer. What might stress someone else might not affect me. Someone who is stressed needs to take some responsibility for themselves and fix their own life, there's no reason that should be considered a mens health issue IMHO.

Thank you for your response.
