I was expecting better than this. It sounds like it's equally possible that the woman is hysterical or that the person really was dodgy. Who is to say? I didn't see the incident with my own eyes.

Petty criminals do in fact operate such ploys. I doubt anyone here would be calling a man hysterical for being suspicious of a possible honeypot mugging type routine (in which a man is distracted by an attractive woman for the purpose of robbing him, could be a street mugging but also not uncommon for carjackings in which a man is more likely to stop for a pretty woman).

Sad how the author clearly caught flack for his article and felt the need to append a "clarification" that, basically, the woman was within her rights to assume the dude was a criminal and recruit the neighborhood to publicly shame him.
